The first statement from the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) came from Nechirvan Barzani.

Barzani said that they were satisfied with the land taken and used the following statements:

“We welcome the PKK’s decision to terminate itself and to fulfill the call of Öcalan as a determined step that will open a new page in the region. This step is an indication of political maturity and paves the way for a real dialogue that will strengthen living and stability in Turkey and the region.

Now it’s time, and everyone expects this important step to find positive steps by all parties. This will end the violence and pain that has lasted for decades and will create the right conditions for a permanent and comprehensive peace that will carry the region to its new progress horizons.
