The first day of submission of candidates for the local elections has passed without incident / day
The CEC informs that on the first day of submitting candidate lists in the June municipal elections, the party showed interest in the morning and began to submit their applications, either on the municipal election commissions or by submitting their lists electronically.
For parties that had any confusion in the use of the electoral system developed by the new State Digital Development Agency (VDAA), the VDAA has helped, and the first lists submitted are currently published on the CVK website.
After 5 pm, information available on the CEC website indicates that at least seven candidate lists were submitted to the municipal elections on the first day.
For example, in Riga, the « Progressive » party was rushed as the first list of candidates.
Viesturs Kleinbergs will be the candidate for the « Progressive » Riga. Likewise, the leaders of the party list are existing council members Alija Turlaya, Mārtiņš Kossovičs, Justīne Pantelējava and Marta Kotello, a board member of the Board of the Grizinkalns Society.
Also on the list of « Progressive » candidates are Aija Melle, the long-time director of Jugla High School, Karlis Krāķis, Member of the Board of the City People, Anna Zirne-Blumberga, an expert on the field of education, Peter Grube, Ukrainian Civil Population Center, Martins Angel, urban and tourism expert, Ilona Cican.
Kleinberg told reporters that he submitted the list « in a very good mood ». « For us, Riga is not just a concrete, but the people who live here work and make their own future, » the candidate for the Mayor of Riga said. « Progressive » Seeing that Riga can be a family -friendly city where everyone can feel safe, living in a green and well -organized city, with Western views, said Kleinberg, whose view, the party has experience and professionalism to implement it.
The party's top priority will be street and bridge repairs, as well as education and security issues.
Meanwhile, the first submitted list of candidates for « Latvian Development » and « Growth » was submitted in Kekava County, where Juris Žilko, founder of Kekava County Council, will be announced as the leader.
On Wednesday, submission of candidates for the 2025 local elections began. Submitting candidate lists to this year's local elections will last three weeks and end on April 8.
The lists of candidates from the Municipal Council may submit a registered political party or a registered association of political parties, or two or more registered political parties that have not united in a registered association.
It has been previously reported that in preparation for the list of municipal election candidates, the CVK political parties organized seminars on the procedure for preparing and submitting candidates for the list of candidates.
Party representatives were invited to apply and participate in two types of seminars, which were informed by specialists from the CEC and the National Digital Development Agency on submission of lists and the new election platform.
Municipal elections are held in early June.
