8-year-old Marinka Ponomareva from Kherson region became the first girl on a prosthesis above her knee, who made a descent from a ski highway accompanied by a trainer. She set a national record.

Her history told at the National Children's Specialized Hospital « Ohmatdit ».

Marinka is originally from Kherson region. In May 2022, the projectile hit the house where the girl lived. She lost one leg and got to the Okhmatdite Kiev.

Subsequently, the small patient was prosthetized. She became the first child in the country to receive a prosthesis due to military injury. Marinka still undergoes rehab, deals with a psychologist and continues to get used to the prosthesis.

Despite the experience, the girl found another favorite activity for herself – skiing. She became only a month ago, but she has already achieved good results.

Accompanied by her coach Vasyl Leskov Marinka descended from the ski route about 50 meters long. The descent lasted 46 seconds. This is a national record that has recorded a book of world records.

The girl was supported by relatives, friends, hospital staff and coach.

8-year-old Marinka in the future dreams of becoming a racer and doing various sports: he loves football, rides a bicycle, jumps on trampolines, swims in the pool and skiing. He confesses that he loves speed most.

« The story of our patient is an example for everyone. It is a model of incredible strength and proof that nothing is impossible, » – added to Okhmatdita.
