UPDATE Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court extended the investigation in the file of suspicious deaths from the ATI section of the Emergency Clinical Hospital ‘Sf. Pantelimon ‘, being put on Thursday two other doctors.

According to judicial sources, investigators have evidence regarding the suspicious death of four other patients admitted to Intensive Care between March 16, 2022 – 4 April 2024.

According to the sources, besides the doctors Maria Miron and Mirela Păiuș, charged in August 2024, the prosecutors have evidence attesting in this case of two other doctors from the Intensive Care Section, namely Victor Popov and Carmen Andreea Sișu, both being charged on Thursday for attempted murder.

Victor Popov and Carmen Andreea Sișu were picked up on Thursday by prosecutors and taken to the Prosecutor’s Office for hearings.

Also, the prosecutors extended the criminal prosecution of Maria Miron and Mirela Păiuș, in relation to the death of two patients.

On August 8, 2024, Maria Miron and Mirela Păiuș were arrested preventively for qualified murder, but were released by judges after about two weeks.

Following the investigations, the prosecutors bring new accusations to the two, Maria Miron – for the commission of two qualified murder offenses (with premeditation, taking advantage of the state of obvious vulnerability of the victim and by a person who has previously committed an attempt to kill); and Mirela Păiuș – for committing a crime of qualified murder (with premeditation and taking advantage of the state of obvious vulnerability).

According to a statement of the Prosecutor’s Office, on 18.05.2023, at 1:21 pm, suspect MM (Maria Miron – no), as a specialist anesthesia and intensive care at the Emergency Clinical Hospital ‘Sfântul Panteimon « Bucharest, taking advantage of the state of obvious vulnerability of the victim SS (patient in serious condition ATI Covid) and acting with the intention to suppress her life, reduced the dose of noradrenaline administered by injectoma, from 15 ml/h to the value of 1ml/h, which drove 4 hours and 39 minutes later when installing the cardio-respiratory stop, followed by the death of the patient declared at 18:45.

On 04.04.2024, 3:50 pm, the suspects MM and PM (Păiuș Mirela – no), both as specialist anesthesia and intensive care at the Emergency Clinical Hospital ‘Sfântul Panteimon « Bucharest, taking advantage of the state of obvious vulnerability of the victim SC (patient in a serious state, in a severe state, in instable, admitted to the ATI section) and acting with the intention of suppressing its life, they reduced the dose of noradrenaline administered by injectomat, from the value of 10 ml/h, to the value of 1ml/h, which drove 6 hours and 25 minutes later when installing the cardio-respiratory stop, followed by the patient’s death, declared at 23:00.

Also, doctors Victor Popov and Carmen Andreea Sișu are suspected of having caused the death of two patients admitted to intensive care.

‘In the morning of 13.04.2023, the PV suspect, as a specialist anesthesia and intensive care at the Emergency Clinical Hospital’ Saint Pantelimon ‘, taking advantage of the state of obvious vulnerability of the victim (patient in critical condition, comatos, hemodynamic install. Noradrenaline administered by injectoma, from 10 ml/h, to the value of 1ml/h (minimum value that was maintained a considerable period of time, at least until 23:33), but the victim’s death did not occur from the author’s will, ‘says the Prosecutor’s Office.

‘On 16.03.2022, at 09:40, SUSCATE SCA, as specialist anesthesia and intensive care at the Emergency Clinical Hospital’ Saint Pantelimon ‘Bucharest, through the assistant TT, determined another person to reduce the adrenaline dose administered by injectomat of the victim CM ( In the ATI Covid section) to the value of 3ml/h, acting with the intention to suppress her life, and on the same occasion she also transmitted the indication not to resuscit the patient, which led 16 hours and 5 minutes later to the installation of the cardio-respiratory stop, followed by the patient’s death, declared on 17.03.2022.

Investigators believe that the two doctors committed the facts with premeditation, because they knew the effects of decreased dose of noradrenaline.

‘In the charge of the suspects, the facts were noted with the premeditation of the facts, since in the prism of the profession of specialist doctor, they knew the effects of noradrenaline, the fact that this substance is essential to maintain an optimal blood pressure, as well as the consequences of its lack, respectively the decrease of the blood pressure, followed by the cardio-respiratory stop. By suddenly reducing the doses of noradrenaline, the causal chain that led to the death of patients was triggered. During the process of providing medical care, although they had the representation of the fact that the death of the victims would not occur immediately, the suspects could intervene at any time to save the victim’s life, but they did not act as a manner, « adds the parquet.

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court and police officers from the Homicurii Service, with the support of the Special Action Service, carried out, on Thursday, the home searches at the homes of some medical staff, in the file on the Suspects of the ATI section of the Emergency Clinical Hospital ‘Sf.
