The expenses around the citizens’ allowance are too expensive

The financial pressure in the reform of the citizens’ allowance is enormous: compared to the old Hartz-IV, the costs have increased by almost half within two years. A large proportion is the inclusion of over one million Ukrainian war refugees, but expenses also grow for other reasons.

Residential and heating grants are now more expensive than citizens’ allowance

The federal government, the federal states and municipalities spent 46.7 billion euros last year. This is almost as much as the defense budget and is missing elsewhere. The pure citizenship money makes up just under half of the sum. In the additional costs for living, heating and accommodation covered, the state now pays five times as much for ongoing expenses as investing in social housing and thus permanent values. The crisis is tightening on the housing market.

Citizens’ benefit: Nobody should grumble about combating performance fraud

The overdue reform of the citizens’ allowance in order to lead significantly more people into employment must be tackled quickly and consistently. And it is not a playful of poor groups, as is used in the SPD, if the fight against performance fraud must also be priority. But not only the Union sees this, but also reasonably also SPD Minister of Labor Bärbel Bas.
