The exam marathon begins: The most important thing for matriculation
With the mandatory matriculation exams, the examination marathon for thousands of students begins. Their knowledge will be checked in less than ten days. At the beginning of June, the exams of fourth -graders are forthcoming, and then the national external assessments for the 10th graders and those after the seventh grade, who determine the admission to the high schools, come.
The mandatory for all students is a Bulgarian language and literature matriculation on May 21st. Two days later – on May 23, is the second compulsory state matriculation exam. It is one of the profiling subjects studied in the 11th and 12th grade, or in theory of the profession for acquiring professional qualification for students from vocational high schools.
Exam scores enter the diploma for completed secondary education and serve to enter most universities. The deadline for announcing the results of the matriculation is June 11 inclusive.

An identity document and a business note
The matriculation starts at 8.30 am, but the students should be at the school where they are distributed at least 30 minutes earlier. They must carry an identity document and the service note on admission to the exam that indicates the buildings and halls in which the exam will be held.

The matriculation in Bulgarian
The Bulgarian language matriculation is divided into three parts. The exam checks the knowledge and skills of twelve grammar grammar, spelling, vocabulary, ability to create text, retrieve information. The maximum number of exam points is 100. The works included in the exam are 27. The matriculation includes 41 tasks, of which:
- 22 tasks with an optional answer;
- 16 tasks with a short free answer;
- 2 tasks with extended free response (creating a text of 4 – 5 sentences);
- 1 task to create an argumentative text (interpretative essay or essay).
For the first part of the exam, the students have 60 minutes. The questions are 21, including language and literary tasks. The questions are selected or a brief free answer. They are recorded in the special answer form.
The second part of the exam contains 19 questions, including those with an elective, short and expanded free answer. Students have 60 minutes available.
During the third part of the exam, adults must write an argumentative text up to 4 pages. The genres are an essay on a life problem or an interpretative work on a study of a literary work. The maximum points are 30 and the adults have 120 minutes available. |

The second matriculation
The second compulsory matriculation is on May 23 at 8.30 am. The matriculation is a profiling subject or the theory of the profession for young people from vocational high schools. The second matriculation can be in a foreign language (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian), Mathematics, Information Technology, Informatics, Entrepreneurship, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, Philosophy, Music or Fine Arts.
