The evictions were troubled by people to death. Forty years ago disappeared underwater dams – SME
The Nová Bystrica tank was built for six years.
Nová Bystrica. The project of the Malinec pumping power plant, which the Minister of the Environment Tomáš Tarababa He described as the greatest opportunity for central Slovakia, arousing passion and protests of people have no end.
This could not happen in times when one party could not happen in Czechoslovakia. To Kysuce They have their Malinec, against whom no one could protest and influenced hundreds of fates.
In the first half of the 1980s, bulldozers came, two Kysucké villages leveled with the ground and everything was watering the water of the new dam. Ties to home and land were very strong. Many did not manage the eviction. Mental traumas, premature deaths and suicide are associated with displacement.
In the article you will learn:
- – What problems were in the eviction of the population
- – What did the inhabitants of flooded villages think of the construction
- – What did the contemporary press write about the construction and what journalists presented to the public
The Ministry of Forest and Water Management of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic issued this decision on 12 February 1970.
“Unbearable management on scattered dugs, lack of water and water management and energy needs of the national economy decided at the end of the 60s on the construction of the water reservoir under the confluence of the streams of Riečnica and Harvelka. Harvelke. ” The fate of two villages thus sealed for good.
The construction closure was announced on December 22, 1972. The excavators were waiting for the next eleven years until the ground was bitten. Local schools, shops and pubs fell, and even a wooden church in Harvelka. The last one remained in Riečnice, which was built in 1905 mostly from the gifts of American emigrants.
Definition of destruction
It was written in February 1983. Vladimír Kušnier, Technical Director of Váhostava, informed journalists that the construction of the water reservoir in Nová Bystrica will begin in May. The construction budget was set at 660 million crowns, it was to be completed in September 1988 and the management of Váhostav was already boasted that the height of the loose dike of the tank with its 57 meters will exceed Liptovská Mara.
As the weekly Kysuce writes from 1984, the construction was originally to be started in 1980, but in 1983 there were difficulties with the handover of the construction, which the crop was not taken. Workers of Váhostav started work up to 12 September 1983.
Harvel’s municipal chronicle states that excessive rainfall caused frequent floods and landslides. In 1962, there was a landslide up to two kilometers away from one of the river settlements.
People from Riečnice and Harvelka lived in difficult conditions, nourished their breeding of cattle and logging. However, the cattle was not a high number, because the pastures were few and the locations were far away. Work duties were redistributed in advance and everyone, even schoolchildren, was involved in the work. It was not uncommon for a long time if the work had priority over the school.
He searches for bears, trying to show people reality. People often mislead, says Kysučan Read
The purchase of real estate began for the first time in 1978, in the settlement at Mackurov. However, several problems were related to the purchase. People complained that they were not sufficiently compensated, they were not reimbursed all property, but not all the land. They did not want to leave their homes voluntarily. They were still hoping they wouldn’t have to move out.
Their dreams faded permanently in 1985, but the apartments for the emigrants in Kysuce were still missing. The contemporary press presents the question of Mr Kováč from Riečnice, who asks where he will go from the landscape area when he does not yet have the apartment.
« The flats earmarked for this purpose in municipal construction will be completed only in 1985, but to a limited extent. In this period, the ONV will be addressed together with the district building housing cooperative in Čadca the most urgent cases in cooperative construction, » he says.
The hope died
It is therefore no wonder that it was difficult to leave people’s birthplace. Some only went when they had water in front of the door. Hundreds of residents from the villages of Riečica and Harvelka moved for the construction of the tank in Nová Bystrica to the surrounding towns and villages, but also more distant corners of Slovakia. They still remember life in flooded villages.
« The evictions and abolition of the villages of Riečnica and Harvelka took place for several years. I was a pupil and a secondary school student during this period.
Year after year, however, the trucks were seen in the village that people were loading the most necessary things. A modest device, or what they considered to be the ownership they wanted to start again.
In her words, she was also painfully affected by the gradual withdrawal of neighbors, classmates, families, the abolition of the nine -year school, to which she had very good memories. The quality of the preparation of pupils in Riečnice was appreciated as a high school student.
“The school in Riečnice was equipped with school aids that did not have many schools, for example, around Žilina, where I studied. Excellent educators prepared us for further studies and we could boldly compete with pupils from city schools. She survived nice school times, ”said Anna Špidusová.
« During the spring, summer or autumn periods, there was no school or thought. The grazing of cows, worry about younger siblings, assistance in field work, often from early childhood, service with richer farm … they filled children’s years. Judák, who comes from flooded Harvel.
Editor Kysuce Štefan Debnár in his article from 1985 states that from the planned 1559 apartments, 1242 flats have been completed so far.
« For people from the landing area and the protection zones of the Nová Bystrica water reservoir, 122 apartments have started to be built. However, these assigned flats in municipal construction will not cover the needs of the citizens of former municipalities Riečnica and Harvelka.
The beginning of the year was unpleasantly surprised by the builders. Thirty -degree frosts and a seventy -centimeter layer of snow slowed the pace.
“This year we have three progressive dates for the construction, according to which we are organizing construction,” said Ján Benko, man, managed for Kysuce.
« On July 1, we have to complete the water designs and put it into operation. By the end of September, all blocks of the injection tunnel must be finished and we must definitely end the trough by the end of October.
The old tree you will not succeed
The builders had their problems and emigrants even bigger. While the children were engaged in the school, parents dealt with existential questions. Infinite negotiations at the Local National Committee, what will be the further existence of the village, the financial evaluation of the property by the state and the gradual payment of the population.
The joint construction of the village was unrealistic, each family individually sought new housing on the basis of paid funds. The first moved inhabitants searched for related houses near the districts Nitra. Topoľčany, TrenčínŽilina, Martin.
In order to buy them, in addition to the settlement from the state, they sold everything they have acquired for years. Cows, horses. But that was not enough either. Many times they had to take a loan.
« I worked in Martin and returned home on weekends. I always learned new and new news about who moved out, which friends left our circle. The village was emptied and sadly fulfilled our soul. Čadci and Kysuce Nové Mesto was more comfortable, they never replaced the feeling of security and the old people.
It also recalls that Riečnica and Harvelka were as if they were one cohesive village where everyone likes to help everyone and willingly. That is why, even after so many years, they feel wrong about violent evictions. A very sad event was the violent eviction of several families, as the relationship to his native chest, role, home was very deep.
Even after years, the people who realized it mentioned this ungrateful and literally unwanted job they had to do. The departures were accompanied by dissatisfaction, strong emotions, crying. By violence the moved family returned to their house, the process had to be repeated and the house had to be destroyed. Although they were given financial compensation for the house, they did not replace them with mental trauma from violent displacement.
« Our family moved from Riečnice in November 1986. I stayed in Martin, my sister moved to the apartment to Čadca, parents to a family house in the Nitra district.
Complained could not, the villages disappeared below the surface
