The evacuation of Lithuania citizens from Israel began in Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning, BNS writes, referring to the message of the national radio LRT. Citizens of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are evacuated to Jordan on three buses, from where they will later be delivered to Vilnius with civilian aircraft.
“We also offered assistance to our neighbors. (…) There are still free places, and we believe that the entire flight will be filled, ”said the head of the National Center for Crisis Management, Vilmantas Vitkusskas.
“We hope that near dinner, a little later than noon, all passengers will be able to get to the border checkpoint,” he added.
The BNS agency reported that earlier the Lithuanian authorities decided to evacuate citizens from Jordan Carter Civil flight to Lithuania, although the SPARTAN military transport aircraft also flew to the region.
More than 100 people registered for evacuation, mainly Lithuania citizens.
Earlier, officials stated that the distance to the airport is about 350 kilometers, so the ground trip could take about four hours. It is expected that the Lithuanians will fly out of the Akaba International Airport in Jordan.
Lithuania has not yet received any requests from individuals for evacuation from Iran.
