The European Commission accepts Rimi Baltic Sales / Day
Bite explains that, with the approval of the regulator, the transaction shall pass into the final phase, during which its financial processes will be completed. The transaction is expected to be concluded by June 2 this year.
LETA has already reported that ICA Gruppen and Salling Group have agreed on the sales price of Rimi Baltic at a sales price of EUR 1.3 billion, without including debts.
Anders Hag, president and executive director of Salling Group, previously emphasized that the Rimi brand is not planned to be changed.
Company representatives pointed out that the transaction includes 314 stores, e-commerce platform, warehouse and distribution centers throughout the Baltics and more than 11,000 qualified employees.
The purchase transaction had to obtain the permission of the supervisory authorities. The Competition Council (CP) noted earlier that the transaction is European -wide, so it should be notified and considered by the European Commission.
Information released on the Salling Group website indicates that the total number of stores in Denmark, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be almost 2,100 with the purchase of « Rimi » in Salling Group, while the number of employees will reach more than 68,000.
Sally Group wants to maintain Rimi’s concept and plans to invest in new stores, as well as strengthen the market positions already existing Rimi.
Salling Group is Denmark’s largest retail company with a low -price supermarket chain Netto in Europe, as well as several other store chains, including Føtex and Bilka. « Salling Group » is fully owned by Salling Foundations.
Rimi Baltic manages retailers « Rimi » in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Rimi Baltic’s turnover in the Baltic States in 2023 was EUR 1.809 billion, which is 5.5% more than in 2022.
At the same time, Rimi Latvia had a turnover of EUR 1,076 billion in 2023, which is 4.7% more than a year ago, the company’s profit increased by 5.8% to EUR 29.09 million.
Rimi Latvia was registered in January 1992 and its share capital is five million euros. The sole owner of the company is the Swedish company Rimi Baltic.
