The countries of the European Union have agreed to the appointment of German General Andre Denko by the Chairman of the European Defense Agency. For the first time since the creation of its structure, it will be headed by a military high rank.

Details: On May 5, the EU countries, on the recommendation of Callas, agreed to the appointment of German General Andre Denko to the post of the European Defense Agency. His term of office will officially begin on May 16. The general will become the first head of the agency to be higher than military rank.

DENK had previously been the deputy chairman of the agency since February 2023, and in particular headed efforts to jointly buy EU countries 155 mm ammunition for Ukraine.
