« Actually, we are all ahead when we look ahead, » says co-parliamentary group leader Britta Haßelmann at the small party congress of the Greens on Sunday. There are now others in front, including Haßelmann.

Around 100 delegates came to Berlin for the so -called state council of the Greens. The party wants to draw a conclusion of the election campaign and discuss its role as an opposition party. A lot sounds already in the guidance of the Federal Executive Board, which the tips have worked out in advance. « Sure. Green. Constructive », he is overwritten. The Greens emphasize that it was important and right to make compromises. « Compromise » and « constructive », but better sell. This already gives a foretaste of how the Greens want to perform in the future. There will be no easy years for the party. The other two opposition parties are louder and more dominant. The AfD, which is almost twice the size of the Grünen faction. And the left, which has won many votes and recently performed more aggressive. The Greens threaten to go under between.

So only the role of state -bearing opposition remains. « We want to criticize more than, » says the chairman Franziska Brantner. « We will feed the good ideas. And be loud. »

A second unique selling point in the opposition: the commitment to support the Ukraine. It sounds in several speeches. Britta Haßelmann, for example, attacks CDU boss Merz. The announced self -criticism comes a little short. « Others would have more reason to ask themselves what went wrong in their election campaign, » says Robert Habeck in his speech. Compared to others, little mistakes were made. He is not completely wrong. The Greens drove their second best result in a federal election, the Union, for example, its secondary talent. Not to speak of the SPD. Nevertheless, the Greens are far behind their expectations. « Errors were made and they have to be processed, » says Habeck. « I also did some .. only which ones were exactly that, he does not say that.
