At midnight, the promotion for the local elections ended and the election silence began, candidates and political parties said what they had, on Sunday, they were on a move by voters who would decide who would lead their municipalities, cities and counties in the next four years and represent them in councils and assemblies.

The election silence lasts all Saturday and Sunday until 7 pm, ie until the closing of 6600 polling stations as they will be open on Sunday.

The State Election Commission (DIP) invited all participants of the election, but also to citizens and the media to respect silence, especially since its violation of high fines were prescribed for its violation.

They range from 398 euros for a natural person to 66,361 euro for a legal, such as a political party that violates silence. The responsible person in a legal entity and candidates may be punished from 1327 to 3981 euros.

Increasies of election silence are reported to municipal, city and county election commissions and the Zagreb Election Commission, whose contact data has been published on the DIP website.

It is forbidden to represent programs, to persuade voters

While silence is silent, electoral participants must not publicly represent election programs, voters should not be persuaded to vote for a particular list or candidate, it is forbidden to publish election results, statements and interviews of election participants.

The publication of promotional messages and photographs of candidates in the media, installing new promotional posters or leaflets, referring to phone calls, SMS messages or mail voters is also forbidden.

DIP invites candidates, parties and citizens not to set up new promotional contents such as status, video pistons, pictures or comments on social networks, or platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Google, You Tube, X, Tikk and others, which are directly published on the covers such as news or private profiles of related private beneficiaries of social networks.

The liabilities of media and media publishers

The media and media publishers invite not to publish photos, statements, interviews, not to convey possible press conferences, public events or address the public participants, whether it is a topic directly related to the election or any other topic.

They also invite them to eliminate everything that represents an election promotion from their programming content, such as advertising, links and picture links-lords (banners) on portals leading to the web pages of electoral participants.

Just over 3, 5 million Croatian voters, on Sunday, elects the local representative and executive government, for which 31,082 candidates were running.

In seven cities and 112 municipalities, elections are already decided, because they have only run in one candidate. The compositions of 35 municipal councils are also known for which only one list is highlighted.

Croatia has 428 municipalities, 127 cities and 20 counties, Zagreb has a special status of the city and county.

Unlike all other elections, local voters can only vote in the place of residence.
