Košice. A serious traffic accident occurred on the road between the villages of Vajkovce and Rozhanovce in the Košice -okolie district in November 2023. The Škoda Fabia car crashed into a bike where an 18-year-old cyclist sat.
The young man suffered serious injuries with which he ended up at the University Hospital L. Pasteur in Košice. Despite the great efforts of doctors, however, he lost the struggle for life a few months.
The police have investigated the accident for more than a year, even asked the public for help. She listened to witnesses and had expert opinions. On the basis of the investigation this year, this year was accused by a 49-year-old driver of Skoda Hynek Š.
Hospital injuries succumbed
The accident happened shortly after 6 pm. According to the wording of the accusation, the Skoda driver caused a traffic accident so that he did not sufficiently follow the situation in the road in a flat road.
He reacted late to the movement of cyclist Richard K., who at that time led the Giant bike in his direction and his lane. The car hit the rear wheel of the bike.
The cyclist suffered several injuries, which he succumbed to during hospitalization at the University Hospital last May.

The driver could not respond in time
In the position of a witness, the driver of Skoda said that on the fateful November evening he was heading from the village of Budimír through Vajkovce to the village of Nižná Kamenica. The weather It was very bad, it was dark and a large fog with a maximum of 20 meters. In addition, it started to drizzle, so the road was wet.
Hynek further testified that behind the village of Vajkovce at the Y -shaped intersection in a slight right -hand turn he was missing with two vehicles. Therefore, he had the dipped beam lights on and did not manage to switch them to the remote.
Therefore, when at the last minute, about two or three meters in front of him, he saw a cyclist, he couldn’t react in time and hit the front of the vehicle.
According to the Driver’s claim, the cyclist moved in the middle of the lane. He was not wearing any reflective elements. Just before the impact, Hynek still noticed that the cyclist had dark clothes and a hood on his head.
Underneath, he said he was probably sticking a helmet on which he had a so -called. headlamp. She shone white and forward. But at a time when he noticed it, the cyclist had his head turned to the right, so the light from his headlamp was shining into the hood. Hynek added that the cyclist had a girl’s pink helmet.
