« The dream of children must be easier to implement »

In Sunday’s party leadership debate In SVT, Sweden’s declining birth rates and the demographic challenge are re -raised. It is a topic that has returned in the debate in recent months, but without concrete suggestions on what can be done about it. Ulf Kristersson (M) expressed in SVT a desire to act « if it is so that young people have fewer children in total than they really wanted to ». Magdalena Andersson (S) also emphasized that it is an important issue – thus it seems to be broad political consensus to do what goes to support those who want to become parents to be able to do so as well.

The decision to become Parent is personal. Today, unfortunately, there are many who want to become parents but are hindered by long waiting times, low accessibility and lack of quality in healthcare. There are also those who wanted to become multi -child parents – but who currently cannot get help with more than one child from the care. Others do not dare to undergo a new pregnancy after bad experiences. We are two organizations that see these problems among our members.

The place of residence may be decisive for the possibility of forming a family

Femmis, the association for voluntary single parents with donation, gathers persons who are or want to become a parent as a single person through assisted conception with donor. The waiting time for assisted conception differs between different parts of the country, which depends, among other things, on the extensive The lack of donors. This creates an unequal situation where the place of residence can be decisive for the opportunity to form a family.

A national initiative to ensure a stable access to donors and the establishment of a national germ cell bank would contribute to more equal and shorter waiting times in all regions, which would make a big difference. Such a venture would not only help more people realize their dream of becoming a parent, but also give them the opportunity to consider any sibling attempts before they reach the regions’ age limits for treatment. Of course, shorter waiting times also benefit other groups waiting for donation to become parents, such as lesbian couples.

Patient Association for Vulvas pain collects people with different types of diagnoses that cause abdominal pain. One such is Vulvodynia condition that brings, among other things pain at enclosing sixbut also when cycling and other parts of everyday life. Vulvodyni is:

• Common, but under -reported

• Tells estimated up to 20 percent of young people with female genitalia at fertile age, but occur at all ages

● Can be treated and cured: whole 80 percent Getting better or perfectly good by the treatment.

The knowledge of However, the condition and its treatment fail in both primary care, gynecological outpatient care and childbirth care, which is why it is often delayed before the correct diagnosis is made. Many of our members have, after diagnosis, also had to wait for more months in line for specialist clinics – if they are at all in one’s home region.

Research shows that people with vulvodynia give birth to fewer children than the population in general

Getting the right treatment quickly provides a better prognosis to become painless, which is why the National Board of Health and Welfare in its guidelines from 2022 in particular emphasized the importance of access to care with the right skills at an early stage throughout the country.

Research shows that people with vulvodynia give birth Fewer children than the population in general. Shorter waiting times and proper diagnosis at an early stage means that more people are cured faster, which would benefit a large group that lives with pain with negative impact on quality of life and mental health. A national investment in vulva receptions and knowledge -enhancing efforts on vulvodynia can in addition contribute to more people with experience in vulva pain choosing to become parents.

The childbirth care must also be able to correctly respond to people with vulvodynia. The goal should be that vulva pain should never prevent anyone who wants to undergo a pregnancy.

Here are two Groups that probably give birth to fewer children than they did about access to and the quality of care would have been better. Directed efforts to people who already have a desire to become parents can have positive effects on birth rates in these groups.

We are calling for:

● A national strategy to increase the number of germ cell donors and a national bank for donated germ cells.

● A national action plan for vulva receptions with specialist expertise in vulvodynia to be found in each region.

● A knowledge lift about vulvodynia in primary care, gynecology and childbirth care.

● Shorter waiting times for assisted fertilization and care for vulvodynia.

Political will to Conduct things that give people fewer children than they really wanted to exist. Our organizations are happy to support politicians who want to go from word to action on these issues in making wise decisions.
