The disappearance of Katarzyna Domeracka. What happened to the 17-year-old?
Kasia, a young Varsovian, led a life divided between two houses. To be closer to school, she decided to live in a week with her grandparents in Mokotów. It saved her time on travel and focus on learning. However, she spent weekends in Białołęka, where she spent time with her mother, stepfather and her younger brother.
At some point, a respected lawyer appeared in the life of the family. The man, wealthy and respected in the legal environment, lived near their home. Although the man was over forty, and his wife and children, his relationship with a teenage girl became surprisingly close. According to her friend, knowledge between her « uncle » and Kasia began to strengthen when she reached the age of about 12-13 years.
Kasia’s mysterious disappearance: What happened at the Zegrze Reservoir?
A few years later, the teenager began to meet with Łukasz older than herself. It was thanks to him that the investigation into her disappearance took on a new dimension. Kasia disappeared on May 9, 2000. The day before, she talked on the phone with an unknown person for a long time. After this conversation, she asked her grandmother to prepare sandwiches. She explained that the next day she was going with a friend and a friend at the Zegrzyński Lagoon. She packed a swimsuit, a towel and a mobile phone in the backpack. However, she did not mention that she could not come back at night.
The family, concerned about the lack of contact, reported her disappearance. Investigators found that nothing unusual happened in her life that day. She did not meet friends either. So what could happen to a young girl on a sunny spring day?
The family emphasized that Kasia had no signs that could indicate the planned escape. The main challenge turned out to be a teen phone call, who did not provide the expected information. It turned out that the girl used the phone phone, and at that time the operators did not record incoming calls – only outgoing. This significantly hindered the restoration of the teenager’s recent contacts.
Kasia’s disappearance: Diary with the key to solve the puzzle
The next step was to direct attention to Łukasz, Kasia’s boyfriend. From the beginning, a young man did not inspire the trust of policemen. During interrogations, he avoided eye contact, giving the impression that he was hiding something. After all, he could not stand the pressure and admitted that Kasia was running a diary.
The discovery of Kasia’s personal notes has completely changed the direction of the investigation. The girl’s notes indicated that her life was much more complicated than her family thought. Her notes show that she was persuaded by an adult man to a relationship she was not ready for. Kasia explicitly indicated who this man was – her neighbor, lawyer.
Financial support and mysterious visits
In her notes, Kasia also mentioned that Uncle regularly transferred her to the account of PLN 300 per month as support. Her friends testified that she had accompanied her visits to a law firm, where the man worked to ask him for extra money.
However, when the investigators found Kasia’s second diary, they discovered in him the dates and locations of the hotels, where her meetings with a man took place.
Kasia’s notes also indicated that she could not accept the fact that the man did not intend to leave his wife. She was also aware that she did not have a real feeling and treated her objectively. Despite the frustration associated with the toxic relationship, Kasia could not imagine her life without a lawyer. Six days before her disappearance, she put him an ultimatum. In the diary she noted that if a man did not inform his wife about their relationship by May 15, he would take matters into his hands.
The final of the investigation
Although the investigation lasted for many years, it was not possible to find the girl’s body or gain hard evidence of what happened to her. The patron has never pleaded guilty, and the lack of body and evidence made him not charged with murder.
Katarzyna’s hair found in his car was the most burdensome evidence against the patron. He explained, however, that he traveled with Kasia many times. A lawyer with a blood stain was also found. Unfortunately, he disappeared during laboratory tests.
