The development of renewables requires increasingly accurate data on climatic changes

The explosive growth of the use of renewable energy sources (VIE) needs technological innovations to take into account climatic conditions that are changing throughout the world, the United Nations experts say. (UN). The increase in the share of renewable renewal in energy balance, in Russia, in Russia, requires more and more accurate climate data – both when searching for places to accommodate new ones and when evaluating risks for existing capacities. These data also become an important component of business processes.

The integration of climatic data and forecasts into technological processes is the key to the development of the sphere of renewable energy sources, the UN experts said. Today, the production of “pure” energy is faced with a number of problems, and primarily with climatic changes. For example, last year in Sudan and Namibia, the production of hydroelectric power stations was reduced by more than 50% due to droughts. In South America, due to solar activity, generation growth was 4-6%.

In this regard, the UN notes the vulnerability of the infrastructure of renewables – existing dams, solar power plants and wind turbines are designed without taking into account climatic changes.

According to data International Agency for Renewable Energy (Irena), in 2024 92.5% of the total increase in energy can account for Roha. The agency announced a record annual increase in the use of renewable power plants (up to 585 GW, by 15.1% per year) and an increase in the total power of renewable power plants to 4448 GW. The renewable renewable and easily introduced, explained the Irenaa CEO Francesco La Camera, however, energy security is becoming an increasingly serious global problem, although rapid increase in renewable power reasons gives a number of business opportunities. The UN believes that in the field of renewable renewals we need diversification and development of new equipment, as well as the integration of climatic databases into energy systems to ensure their reliability and stability and their accounting when creating new capacities.

In the Russian Federation, renewable rates are not yet impressive: according to the Association for the Development of Renovated Energy, as of February 1, 2025, the total installed capacity of such sources was only 6.59 GW (0.15% of the world). However, as reminded in the Ministry of Economics, by 2030, the power of renewable renewables in the Russian Federation will double, up to 12 GW, and the architecture of low -carbon development, which includes the collection of enterprises reporting, systems for verification of greenhouse gas emissions (See “Kommersant” from March 13) and climatic monitoring is already being created.

The climatic conditions dictate the choice of a generation method, says Mikhail Yulkin, an expert of the International Center for Sustainable Energy Development under the auspices of UNESCO, and the traditional energy can be less reliable against the backdrop of a changing climate, and therefore the introduction of renewal is promising, and climatic problems for our country are also relevant, such as overheating of capacities and river fabrication. The development of renewable reinforced concrete, Mr. Yulkin believes, is necessary to adapt to the changing climate – « today we need to think about technologies for sustainable development. » Many enterprises independently provide themselves with energy, and « the problem of replacing technological equipment, sooner or later, will affect them. »
