Resolution from the annual meeting in NJFF Finnmark about humpback salmon.

NJFF requires the authorities to intensify the effort in the fight against humpback salmon. The management still lacks knowledge of injury effects. The development is scary, but we see that the effort helps.

The public has previously taken responsibility for other threats to the wild salmon, such as acid rainfall and the salmon parasite Gyrodactylus salaris. Now there is a need for the public to take similar responsibility for funding research and measures to combat the unwanted Pacific salmon.

Fighting humpback salmon is a national task. Although the overall responsibility for fishing for humpback salmon lies with the public, the responsibility for the practical implementation is largely maintained by volunteers. This responsibility must be moved from volunteers to the public. Several traps must be established, and the financing of the joint operation must be sufficient and predictable.

Norway has an international responsibility for safeguarding the red -listed Atlantic wild salmon. We do not fight the humpback salmon die the wild salmon.
