The Dana judge emphasizes that the Generalitat knew the danger of the ravine that unleashed the tragedy | News from the Valencian Community

New Varapalo of the Judge of Catarroja (Valencia) that criminally investigates the Dana, Nuria Ruiz Tobarra, to the popular executive that Pilota Carlos Mazón for the management of the tragedy that left 225 dead and three missing on October 29. The instructor assures in her last car that the Generalitat « knew perfectly » the overflow in Chiva (Valencia) of the Poyo Barranco, trigger for the catastrophe by causing dozens of deaths as a result of the floods. And it indicates that the evidence is accumulated against the Emergency Minister that managed the tragedy, Salomé Pradas, and its number two, Emilio Argüeso, which are charged with homicides (punished with penalties between one and four years in prison) and reckless injuries (up to three years in prison) and that were dismissed by Mazón four weeks after the catastrophe.

The instructor, who insists that the autonomic was the administration « competent in civil protection matters » in the crisis, argues that the Generalitat managed first -hand information on the overflow of the Poyo ravine through 112, the autonomic emergency telephone service service. And he sets as an example of this knowledge the desperate call to this switchboard of a Chiva woman who lost her husband and two of her three children and the one who « nobody warned. »

After analyzing the recording of 112, Ruiz Tobarra concludes that the son of this victim first called at 17.10 hours at the emergency service. « (My relatives) cannot leave for the amount of water, they have been trapped. If they leave, the river takes them away. (…) The water reaches them at the height of the dining room table, » the relative warned.

The son – the self -warns of the overflow of the Poyo ravine. « My parents, who are 70 and 74 years old, are drowning in the villa. I have contacted my mother and the water reaches her neck, » the 112 operator accurates. An aunt of this victim also uses the switchboard and asks that they send a helicopter to rescue their relatives. « There are four people hooked to a window. The river has overflowed. They are going to take the water from one moment to another, » he warns. The aunt details the kinship he keeps with the people who are about to lose their lives. « They are two young boys. My sister and her husband. »

The judge resorts to these thorough details to answer a letter from Emilio Argüeso, Autonomic Secretary of Emergencies of the Mazón Government during the Dana. The exalted position, who is investigated and declared on April 11, requested that he be informed of what “facts or omissions” were charged in the case and demanded the magistrate a “clarification”.

The magistrate recalls that the imputation of Argüeso and Pradas is the result of the statements of dozens of investigated. In three months, more than a hundred witnesses have paraded by the court, mostly relatives of fatalities. « The cause continues to progress and join, not only new statements, but also new evidence that confirms the origin of the resolved, the essential citation as investigated from Pradas and Argüeso, » says the resolution.
