The Council of Public Prosecutors is due to consider today the proposal for dismissal of state prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski. The proposal is the second item on the agenda of the 22nd session, which has been delayed twice. It was originally scheduled for March 18, but was postponed due to the seven -day mourning after the tragedy in Kocani, and last week, March 26, was postponed due to a quorum.

According to the legal deadlines for reviewing the proposal for dismissal of Kocevski, the Council should consider it by the end of the week at the latest, although the government has announced that it will suspend the procedure.

Government spokeswoman Maria Miteva said on March 26 this year that the government would suspend the procedure for dismissal of state prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski and if he receives an opinion from the PP Council, he will not follow the Parliament.

« To clarify that if the Government receives an opinion from the Council of PPO, it will stop the procedure, ie it will not send it to the Parliament, and of course the Council of Public Prosecutors will act on the deadlines, » Miteva said.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said after the tragedy in Kocani that the procedure for dismissal of public prosecutor Kocevski would be stopped at the moment.

– At this point, given the sensitive situation in society, we plan to stop that procedure where it is, because we appreciate that prosecutors who work especially on the case in Kocani should work and work, give them a chance to work. When I said that we were pleased, I could see that there was one joint action and work between the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecutor’s Office that resulted in 34 people who have the slightest suspicion of linking to this case – said Mickoski, answering journalist questions after an event for starting a Park building.

The Government on February 11th decided to initiate a procedure for dismissal of state prosecutor Kocevski who was elected to this position a year ago and his mandate lasts six years. The Ministry of Justice, acting on the conclusion of the 50th session of the Government, drafted a draft thinking to dismiss the state prosecutor.

Kocevski, according to the Ministry of Justice, acted in cases in which according to the legal provisions there were circumstances that cause suspicion of his impartiality, as well as a conflict of interest, and which circumstances he should have known and should have been excluded. National prosecutor Kocevski denies the claim that he illegally acted, pointing out that he was following the law and the deadlines in it.
