The constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo fails again, here is the next session held
Even today’s session did not reach the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo, as the proposal for the establishment of the Electoral Commission was not approved, a necessary step to hold the secret ballot for the election of the Speaker of Parliament.
Chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, invited political entities to propose their members for this commission, but the proposal did not pass, making the process fail once, the Telegraph reports.
This marks the 26th failure to constitute the Assembly.
The session was terminated to continue on June 5.
Following the parliamentary elections held on February 9, the Kosovo Assembly failed to be constituted, as the winning party, the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV), is not securing enough votes to elect the Speaker of Parliament. The LVV proposed candidate for this post, Albulena Haxhiu, has not received the necessary support.
Political entities, PDK, LDK, AAK have stated that they will not vote for Haxhiu for the position. Whereas, the LVV stated that it will not change their candidate.
The sessions are being held every 48 hours, but the quorum or consensus needed to vote for the Legislative Leader has never been reached, which is holding the process of constituting the Assembly and the formation of new institutions.
