The Communist Party will support Oleg Nikolaev in the election of the head of Chuvashia
The only governor from the Fair Russia – For Truth, Oleg Nikolaev (Chuvashia), who will run for September elections as a self -nominated person, will support not only United Russia, but also the Communist Party. According to Kommers, the Communists are not going to fight for the post of head of the republic, since they share the positions of the current head of the region.
The fact that the Communist Party may refuse to nominate the candidate for the election of the head of Chuvashia, “Kommersant” was told by a source in the party. According to him, this decision is due to the « proximity of the positions » of Oleg Nikolaev and the Communists. The interlocutor of Kommersant emphasized that in this case the Communist Party will publicly support the current governor who will run for a second term. Oleg Nikolaev remains the only Russian governor who is the party “Fair Russia – for Truth” (SRZP).
Earlier, the head of the Omsk region, Alexander Burkov, belonged to the Socialist -Revolutionaries, but in 2023 he resigned. There are three governors in the Communist Party – Andrey Klychkov, Khakassky Valentin Konovalov and Ulyanovsky Alexey Russians. The rest of the opposition parties, including parliamentary LDPR and “new people”, have no representatives in the leadership of the regions.
Mr. Nikolaev was appointed acting head of Chuvashia on January 29, 2020 by decree of President Vladimir Putin. Prior to that, he worked as chairman of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities. The transition to the governor’s post was preceded by the early resignation of the former head of the Republic of United Russia Mikhail Ignatiev, who forced an employee of the Ministry of Emergencies to jump for the keys to new special equipment and lost the trust of the head of state.
In the elections in 2020, Oleg Nikolaev ran for a self -nominated person, and United Russia did not put up his candidate against him: the party of authorities traditionally supports opposition chapters, which Vladimir Putin appointed. But the Communist Party of the Communist Party took part in those elections by nominating the first secretary of the Chuvash RESCOM Alexander Andreev. As a result, Mr. Nikolaev won with 75.6% of the votes, the communist came to the second (10.3%).
In the upcoming elections, Oleg Nikolaev will again run for a self -nominated person. All other governors, as well as the acting head of the regions, according to Kommersant, will go from United Russia.
