The Prime Minister noted that the « coalition of goodwill » had agreed on the short -term work to strengthen the Ukrainian army and continue the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

Siliņa also pointed out that the expansion of sanctions against Russia is essential, thus more pressure on the aggressor. « It was the first painful issue mentioned by Russia when the 30 -day ceasefire agreement was offered. The continuation of sanctions policy is extremely important, » Silina emphasizes.

Along with the « Goodwill Coalition » meeting, national leaders have agreed that a clear plan for cooperation with transatlantic partners.

As Silina said, the « good will of the good will » agreed, as the leader of the talks is French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Kira Starmer, who continues to talk in the coalition as well.

« The operational and structural plan will also be created politically, militarily, practically and financially. The working groups will continue to work on the nuances of strengthening the Ukrainian army, » the Prime Minister said.

In Silina’s view, this coalition is generally performance and works to make it safe not only in Ukraine but also in Europe. « Of course, for Europe to be safe, it is very important that each coalition country is doing its homework – strengthening itself military, fulfilling NATO’s goals, » the Prime Minister said, adding that not all countries in the coalition are NATO countries, but it is important for them to think about security.

At the same time, the prime minister revealed that the meeting also talked about the Eastern border countries, emphasizing that they are also important, and it is important that the forces there are not weakened there, and the eastern border should be considered.

Speaking of Ukraine and Russia’s peace talks, Silina said the leaders had agreed on the « red lines » for Europe, and that sanctions could not be lifted at the moment.

Along with the head of the Latvian government pointed out that it is clear that Ukraine wants peace, but it can be seen that Russia is not ready for it at the moment. The Ukrainian side said it has submitted several specific points to be expected. « We cannot agree unequivocally if Russia asks, for example, to leave some five regions in their disposal or possession. We are joining the position of Ukraine, » the prime minister said.

Siliņa also revealed that she had talked to the Polish Prime Minister about action in connection with the withdrawal of the Ottawa Convention and how countries would work on a common line of defense.

« We are coordinating, working together, and going to the European Commission together, » Silina said, stressing that Poland is currently evaluating how to leave the Ottawa Convention legally.

As reported, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (JV) on Thursday attended a regular meeting of the « Good will coalition » countries in Paris, organized by French President Macron in Ukraine.

The « Coalition of Good will » brings together countries who want and are ready to contribute to Ukraine’s support. Its purpose is to provide greater diplomatic, military, financial and political support to Ukraine to achieve fair and persistent peace in Ukraine.

This is another meeting of European leaders hosted by French President Macron after a change of power in the US. The first of them was a narrower circle of politicians and the Baltic States did not participate.
