The children of Romania, in sad statistics
Only one in five children in the rural area is truly happy, according to the report ‘the welfare of the child in the rural area’ 2024 made by World Vision Romania.
‘The World Vision Romania report shows that the perception of children on a’ good life ‘is closely linked to essential needs, but also to wishes related to personal space, education and protection: 14% of children in rural areas (about 141,000) believe that a good life means having more and better food; 20% I think life is good if they learn what they like; 24% want to have a space of their own, a personal place to feel safe; For 8% of children (about 80,000), a good life means not to be quarreled or hit by anyone ‘, says in a statement sent by World Vision Romania.
According to the quoted source, the main features of a good life, as children see them, are health, pocket money, freedom to do what they like and the presence of friends. A quarter of children (25%) want a bigger and more modern home.
In terms of support and living conditions, 19% of children are never helped in themes, 8% feel that parents treat them worse than the other family members, 15% are always tired because of work before or after school, 6% say they never like them at school, and 6% go to bed in the evening.
In addition, 22% of children in the rural area say they do not have free time, and their favorite activities are watching TVs, meetings with friends and browsing the Internet (38%).
Near the International Child’s Day, the children from the World Vision Advisory Council sent a letter to the President of Romania, requesting, among other things, the establishment of a Children’s National Council in addition to the Presidential Administration, real participation in decisions and equal opportunities in education.
