The Championship Cup of the Republic of Moldova arrives at home – the angle – see the world as it is!

The Ungheni reconfirms that it is the nursery of the great champions of athletics in the Republic of Moldova. Recently, the team of the Sports School of Children and Juniors in the municipality obtained the first place in the general team ranking at the Championship of the Republic of Moldova for junior athletics, bringing home the competition Cup.
Among the performers are: Ion Pîrțac and Olga Lupu, winners of the 3000 meters race, Ana Cojocaru, 2nd place at 3000 meters and 1500 meters, Mihaela Visitiv, 3rd place at 3000 meters, Magdalena Znamenschi, the first at 1500 meters, Olga Lupu and Ion Baran, both ranked III.
« These children are the living proof that when you have discipline and will, the results do not delay. Many of them have been training for a short time, but they already have an innate sense for the competition. I am glad that their work is recognized and awarded, » said Mihai Grosu, emeritus coach of the Republic of Moldova and one of the Champions of the Champions.
Success would not have been possible without the support of the City Hall of Ungheni, who financially supported the team’s participation in the championship.

And over 150 participants – at the Open competition of Ungheni municipality for athletics

Also in Ungheni, on May 28, there was also the Open Championship of the Municipality for Athletics, a large sporting event, organized with the support of the City Hall and which brought together about 150 participants from several localities. The competition was honored by the presence of Mayor Vitalie Vrabie, the deputy mayor Eduard Balan, responsible for the social field, including sport, and Tatiana Lazăr, the head of the Ungheni Olympic Agency. Tatiana Lazăr offered equipment for athletes with the signs of the Olympic games.
The competition had the following tests and winners: 100 m – Iulian Lebădă, Culic Artemia; Ana Cojocaru; 600 m – Sabina Aftene, Victor Suman; 1000 m – Ianec Pînzaru, Ana Cojocaru, Artiom Haibu; 1000 m – Ion Baran; 2000 M – Ecaterina Cernat, Olga Lupu, Gheorghe Buzulan, Ion Baran, Ion Vodovoi.

Athletics remains one of the pillars of local sport, with a solid performance tradition. Over the years, Ungheni has formed dozens of national and international champions, among which are Valentina Delion, Valeriu Vlas, Ecaterina Cernat and Gheorghe Buzulan, athletes who asserted themselves on the stage of the great international competitions, under the demanding and dedicated guidance of Mihai Grosu and his colleagues.
The sport unites, and the Ungheni demonstrates, again, that performance is born from communities that believe in the potential of their young people.
