The centenary was led by a tram after 40 years. An amazing birthday
The centenary was born in 1925 in Lviv. After the war, Mr. Roman and his family were forced to evacuate. He settled in Wrocław, where he started working in MPK, encouraged by his uncle, started a family and lives today.
Roman Kroczak celebrated his 100th birthday, fulfilling the dream of running a tram
At the beginning Mr. Roman worked as conductorand then he became a driver. He immediately received a coat, underneath the sheep’s fur and felt shoes. Thanks to that he was a bit warmer. And the winter temperature dropped even to – 35 degrees C. – After the war, the city was full of rubble. I went to work on foot. There was a lack of glass in the trams, and people put on them to warm up – he recalls difficult working conditions at that time.
The centenary helped in removing the destroyed Wrocław
For four decades he was an exemplary employee. He was never late to work. In the post -war years, after the end of his change, he went to rub Wrocław ruined during the war. He took part in a strike at the bus depot in 1980. To this day he has an old, archival payout section and MPK badge from 1946.
In 1947, after marriage with Franciszka, he started a family. Together with his wife, they raised five children. Today, the senior, apart from five children, has eleven grandchildren and nineteen great -grandchildren. Mr. Roman widowed 7 years ago and currently lives with his daughter’s family.

When his birthday was approaching, the daughter came up with the idea of realizing her dad’s dream. In his former company MPK She asked for the opportunity to organize a tram ride that Mr. Roman will lead. It worked, the management of MPK helped fulfill the dream of their former employee. Mr. Roman sat behind the Postal 105 tram desktop under the guidance of an instructor. He had the opportunity to lead him for the first time. At the moment it is the oldest model exploited by a Wroclaw carrier, but it is still more modern than the vehicles that the senior drove.
At the end of the ceremony
Before setting off on a journey, he received gifts from his former employer and loved ones. After a ride, the tram went to the city. It was originally planned that only the depot area would travel. After returning, the guests ate a specially prepared cake for this occasion. Mr. Roman was wished another 100 years of life.
