The case is still dragging on
Some time ago, we wrote again about the case of such and defective airbags, which still burden some manufacturers, specifically Citroën. This one continues to have problems on this topic.
According to AFP, Citroën, on Tuesday, owners of the Citroën C3 and DS3 models, which have potentially defective Takata airbags, reported that these vehicles should stop immediately. In our understanding, these are vehicles that are otherwise covered by safety recall for this reason.
According to AFP, Citroën has only urged drivers to be ordered to replace airbags, this process is gradually implemented from the beginning of 2024 – We wrote about this a while ago in Del -but did not tell them to stop driving these cars. « Given the circumstances, we decided to issue a call to stop driving to accelerate their repair, » Citroën’s CEO told AFP Xavier Chardon.
According to Reuters, who refers to French sources, Citroën is expected to take the measure at the request of the French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot. This happened after a woman had recently died in a car accident in France.
This is the last chapter in the saga with a recall that has been dragging on since 2014, after investigators found that airbags had caused more deaths because they exploded when they were triggered in a car accident. So far, there are 13 in France.
This order refers to about 441,000 C3 and DS3 vehicles in Europe, in addition to hundreds of thousands of vehicles that Citroen has already recalled since the beginning of last year.
Other large manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Nissan, BMW and Toyota have so far recalled millions of airbag vehicles.
Japan went bankrupt after the 2017 outbreak of the scandal in 2017, at which time it was published that the call in the world was expected to capture as many as 125 million vehicles.
