The case for the death of Maradona was canceled – Cyprus Newspaper

The legendary name of the Argentine football, Diego Maradona, was canceled by the court on the grounds of irregularities in the judicial process.

At the center of the decision, Julieta Maktikach, who was looking into the case, took part in a documentary called “Justicia Divina” (Divine Justice) during the ongoing case process. This was considered as a violation of the principle of impartiality and led the process to lose its validity.

Court President Maximiliano Savarino said in a statement, Maktacach’s behavior shadowed the trial, stating that the case should be seen from the beginning with a new court committee. Both prosecutors and lawyers of the defendants and their relatives of the victims supported the decision.

However, according to the comments in the local press, this cancellation decision was a great disappointment in Maradona’s family and public opinion. Maradona’s daughters in the courtroom can not control the tears of dive and Giannina, while former partner Veronica Ojeda said they would continue the struggle for justice.

Dalma Maradona said in a statement, “It is unacceptable to postpone the hearing for months because of the irresponsible behavior of a judge. This is a clear injustice. The problem is not the content of the documentary, but a judge’s participation in the judicial process continues,” he said.

Maradona investigation

On November 25, 2020, Diego Maradona, who lost his life in Tigre, Argentina, was explained as the cause of death as “acute lung edema due to chronic heart failure”. Within the scope of the investigation initiated after his death, 7 medical officers, including Maradona’s neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, were on charges of “causing death as a result of negligence”.
