Alta municipality has many old buildings that should have been sold a long time ago. Both in Alta and in the east and west seas in Alta municipality.

These are exposed buildings that require a lot to be used and that eat well by a bottom -scraped municipal box. These are buildings that decay quickly and then only remediation applies, and remediation costs a lot of money, money Alta municipality does not have at all.

Take Jansnes in Talvik as a good example. There are most of the windows crushed and doors and have been open to the weather for years, now it is totally destroyed. A real ghost building that is a nuisance to everything and everyone, which many other buildings soon come and stay.

Recommend the inhabitants and take a walk and see. Is that what is about to happen to the town hall, is another ghost building produced by Alta municipality? There are more and more such buildings that the municipalities sit too long and eventually collapse.

For almost 8 years, in Alta Frp, we have proposed that these buildings must be sold to cut expenses as well as free up the capacity of administration and those who will look after these old buildings.

Last but not least, then the position in the demolition of the town hall turned. This will incur 3-4 million on the municipality in extra expenses, in addition to a new zoning plan. As an alternative why not sell the town hall and let real estate developers take the cost of regulation, rebuild or whatever it may be.

Then the municipality releases operating expenses and can spend the money on much intended services and capacity is released. Alta Frp believes that now something must be done constructively with all the old buildings that incur mass expenses in the form of operation and administration. It may seem that both political leadership and administration are paralyzed in this case.

Alta Frp’s approach to selling old buildings, including the town hall, to cut costs and free up administrative resources is important for the municipality of Alta. By addressing these challenges, the municipality can strengthen its finances and better adapt its resources to the most necessary services for the citizens. It is important to act quickly to speed up the sales process and realize the potential gains.
