The building counting a century hides the sad truth – that’s what the tourists see
Exceptional story
The building at the beginning of Puodžių Street has been built since its construction in 1891. designed to educate young residents of the city.
That year, Louise Gymnasium was established in the early 1860s.
The building often stops at this building, and the guides tell them about the example of the Neo -Renaissance architecture in our city, the gas lighting lights and the beautiful work of the youth center now operating here.
It is only to convince the newcomers to special respect for this structure because it looks sad, especially miserable it is from the side of the yard.
Talka could educate
Patriotic residents of Klaipeda are considering why the whole building on the side of the yard is described as if someone had organized a lesson from young graffiti.
Remembering examples of Japanese upbringing culture, the senior residents of Klaipeda are considering – it would be great if the Youth Center students would try to wash the kete with sponges and soaps on a spring day.
Perhaps then the children would not only feel themselves, but would not allow others to do so.

Restricts actions
Ramūnas Kaubrys, director of the Klaipėda Queen Louise Youth Center, said that children could not clean the walls and listed several arguments.
As the building is included in the list of cultural heritage sites, without the permission of heritage conservationists and recommendations, something cannot be done. Even a fallen window due to heritage conservation requirements cannot simply be replaced, as other institutions do.
« Students come to us for another purpose, we educate them. It would not be wise to force them to clean the graffiti, and we cannot do it either. To our knowledge, the walls can only be cleaned by sandy, which is a very expensive service, » said R. Kaubrys.
The head of the institution found people working on sandblasting techniques and even called them to see the building.
It turned out that it is too expensive for the institution.
We are puzzling and worrying about it.
The competition did not take place again
« We have submitted to the municipality all the documentation necessary to prepare for the management and repair of the building. The second public tender for the technical project has already taken place. We hope that as soon as it is prepared, the graffiti will be cleaned by sand, » said R. Kaubrys.
It is very difficult to predict when changes can be achieved. There is also no exact response as to why the technical project preparation competition does not take place.
The institution cannot enforce public procurement if their price exceeds 15 thousand. The municipal units do so.
According to unofficial knowledge of R. Kaubri, the second competition did not take place, which means that real work can be expected soon.
« We are puzzling and worrying about it, but we must understand that these are the affairs of the founder of the institution – Klaipeda municipality, » said R. Kaubrys.
