The tax-and-so-consumed department (NTD) from April 27, 2025 has the right to consider cases of import and export of sanctions goods, as well as cash in the manner prescribed by the production of misconduct. The NTD began for a month 144 of the production of misconduct and appointed to private individuals fines of 26,000 euros, and also prevented the export of more than 120,000 euros to Russia.
“The awareness of people crossing the border, about sanctions goods, is growing. Customs verification detects more and less violations committed by ignorance and error; However, cases of concealment have become more frequent, ”said Voldemar, head of the customs inspection department of customs inspections. “If a customs officer could previously allow a person crossing the border to return a low -value sanctions goods or abandon it, now for violation of the sanctions is the production and punishment corresponding to the act.”
The banknotes of the euro are still the most common article of the import and export of sanctions items. The department of customs inspections prevented the export of more than 120,000 euros to Russia within a month. Through the border, they tried to carry out the amounts of both euros and more than 8,000 euros, but these cases were prevented. And since these amounts amounted to less than 10,000 euros, the acts were subject to consideration in the manner prescribed by the production of misconduct. A fine of up to 1600 euros is assigned to private individuals for the transportation of euros in the framework of accelerated production and up to 2400 euros – general production. The average fine for the first month amounted to 190 euros, its smallest amount was 40 euros, and the largest was 2400 euros.
In addition to preventing the export of euros, production on misconducting on the import of various electronic components, information carriers, tools and cosmetic products into Russia was started. Most of all things about misconduct related to the delivery of cigarettes were initiated by violations committed in the opposite direction.
“The number of border intersections with the Russian Federation begins to gradually grow on the eve of summer. Since the main priority for customs is the application of sanctions and the prevention of the import of resources used for warfare into Russia, the waiting lines on the border can increase, ”Voldemar said is anxious. “Before crossing the border, you need to very carefully familiarize yourself with the current prohibitions and restrictions in order not to take prohibited goods with you.”
