The biggest increase in voter activity was observed in Jelgava, Rezekne and Kekava district / day

In Jelgava, voter turnout has increased by 17.44 percentage points – current information indicates that 47.03% of voters have voted in the city this year.

In Rezekne, 47.88% of voters voted in Rezekne, which is an increase of 16.66 percentage points compared to the 2021 local elections.

In the Kekava region, voter turnout increased by 16.62 percentage points – to 52.54% in these elections.

At the same time, voter activity in Jelgava region has increased by 15.22 percentage points, in Sigulda County – by 14.74 percentage points, but Liepaja’s activity increased by 14.7 percentage points, according to LETA calculations based on CVK data.

In Riga, voter activity has increased by 12.33 percentage points compared to the extraordinary elections in 2020.

At the same time, information compiled by LETA indicates that voter turnout has increased in all regions, but the lowest increase – 1.67 percentage points – was recorded in Ludza County.

It has already been reported that the first results of municipal elections could be expected after midnight, Kristine Saulīte, head of the Central Election Commission, told reporters on Saturday night.

In these municipal elections, taking into account those citizens who voted in the previous vote, voter turnout has reached 46.77% of the voters with the right to vote, according to the latest data compiled by the CEC, which is not yet for all districts.

Including 29.12% of voters from 8am to 8pm on Saturday.

The biggest activity was in Riga, where 51.77% of the voters voted.

The capital is followed by Vidzeme, where a total of 47.71% of voters voted, Zemgale with 43.73%, Kurzeme with 42.11% and Latgale, where a total of 41.51% of voters voted.

In the five previous voting days, 16.11% of the voting population voted in the Latvian municipal elections.

It has already been reported that in the previous municipal elections, which took place in June 2021, the elections were not in Riga, where the council was elected elections a year earlier, as well as in Rezekne County and Varaklani County, where the elections were suspended by judgment of the Constitutional Court and later – in September 2021. Currently, Varaklani County is included in Madona County and is respectively in the Vidzeme constituency, while it was previously in the Latgale constituency.

In total, 1,377,183 Latvian residents were eligible for these municipal elections.

Citizens could vote this year in a total of 948 districts throughout Latvia.

The elections could vote from 8am to 8pm on Saturday.

This year, unlike the municipal elections of previous years, it was possible to vote in any municipal district.
