The big change in the National Team and the Jovanovic Motion

Only smiles scattered the national football team last four days in Crete. The two emphatic wins against Slovakia and Bulgaria distributed joy to Greek fans and, above all, optimism.

The matches may have been friendly and Jovanovic had changed the deck from one match to another, using different players but from the two games there were useful conclusions.

The first – and perhaps most important is – under the guidance of Serbian, the national football team drastically changes its football philosophy. The defensive game, with the emphasis on limiting the development of the opponent, now belongs to the past and the seasons of Rehagel and Santos.

Jovanovic wants the initiative football and Greece will move in the qualifying matches of the 2026 World Cup. This is why he did a « child » with many young and especially talented footballers, not only to be the two -year -olds but not only to be international but to be international.

The representative band is no longer dependent on 2-3 key players, but all players jointly contribute to the effort to reach a positive result.

We will see these two features even greater in the World Cup qualifiers starting for Greece in September. The qualification in the final phase of America is the big goal and in these matches it will be greatly judged, if the federal coach’s football philosophy can be applied to the game of National.

Until then, however, we can be optimistic that this national team after many years can make us proud!
