Dramatic events occurred on Saturday, May 24 in the town of Suczany (Martin poviat) in the north-eastern part of the Turczańska Valley on Slovakia. In the local company dealing in the production of roofing, the bear with two young people attacked a 49-year-old. According to Slovak media reports, a man to escape from the animal jumped through the highway fence D1. There, drivers who immediately notified the services were to notice him.

« The attacked man suffered numerous injuries and was transported by an ambulance to the University Hospital in Martin, » said Filip Kuffa, deputy minister of the environment in social media.
A special forest guard team appeared on site, dealing with responding to threats associated with « problematic individuals » of the species brown bear. The officers easily located the exact place of the attack, nearby there was blood and pieces of clothing.
The area has been secured and the area nearby is patrolled using a drone with a thermal imaging camera. According to preliminary findings and observations of the guards, the bear moved near the weight, but the services will continue to monitor the area of the Suczan.
Slovak authorities point to a growing problem with bear attacks
This is not the first time when it comes to Suczany confrontation of man with a bear. A similar event took place in 2023 – a man, attacked by a predator, shot him using a legally owned weapon. Filip Kuffa also reminded that recently, with the support of the army, another bear was eliminating the safety of residents in this area.
The Slovak authorities decided to eliminate selected brown bear individuals, whose aggressive behavior is a threat to the population. As the deputy minister of the environment informed, so far 23 animals from the 350 predators list have been shot in connection with attacks on people, on which the permission was officially reached. « We will have something to do by the end of the year, » wrote Kuffa on social media.
