The BDO Young Artists' Award is received by artist Elza Lapina / Day

For the first time in the history of the prize, the audience's sympathy, which has been voted by visitors to the exhibition and the portal Satori Readers – received by artist Anete Greenberg for animation short film Attention in the garden. The BDO Young Artists' Award takes place for the fifth year in cooperation with BDO Latvia, serving as a platform for young artists and providing the opportunity to highlight and develop their talent.

The winner of the BDO Young Artists' Awards, Elza Lapina (1992), graduated from the LAA's visual communication specialty last year. The prize winner in artistic practice creates audiovisual works and installations, often in the process of creating and planning, taking into account the location and environment of the exhibition (Site-Specific). In her creative work, the artist often includes the features and technologies of the practice of the restorer profession, offering new forms of interpretation on events outside the limits. Time landscapes There is a set of multi -art objects that express the nature of the changing nature of our surroundings over time and call into question things that could be perceived as original or even non -existent copies of originals. In the installation, the artist, through materiality and its various combinations, rhetorically addresses the question of how to understand the authenticity of things, structures or behavior?

“Getting a prize is an unexpected but very pleasant surprise! This means a lot for me, because I do not regret in art – neither my time nor material. It is important for me to implement my vision and be true to myself in creative work. As a result, winning the prize is a testament to the need to continue creating art that is authentic and understandable to me. It is also a great honor, because the work of all the finalists is strong and unique in our own terms, I believe that each of us deserves this prize, ”says Elza Lapina. « I will continue to work on the projects that have been started and my solo exhibition is expected in the summer! »

In turn, the audience's award was won by artist Anete Grīnberga with animation work Attention in the garden. In the title of « Forgetting », the work symbolizes the removal of the memory of previous human life. « With all those related to us, our essence would be completely lost, and thus all that had previously been able to describe us would lose any binding and associative meaning, » says the artist about the short film. “The visual elements in the animation can be viewed on both the positive and the negative scale of associations, such as the flames – hell (negative), the ability to transform through them (positive), thorns (negative), release from them (positive). However, while each of the chosen animation image and object is related to the symbolic sense, I do not want to impose this symbolism system for the animation viewer, rather encourage these images and events to vary at their own discretion. ”

Anete Grīnberg (1996) got a bachelor and a Master's degree in LMA Movement. Picture. Sound. in specialty. He has participated in group exhibitions in Latvia and abroad, as well as a member of the Latvian Animation Association. Anete Greenberg not only writes but also writes, and her second novel for young people will soon be released.

This year, four more artists competed for the prize who graduated from the LMA Master's program in 2024 – Alice Bulevica (a series of paintings Night whisper – mind portals)Ella Mikhailova (sculpture Daily bread), Mika Solomana (a series of works Personal connections in the apartment) and Martins depth (installation Elita).

The BDO Young Artists' Prize jury included Kristaps Zariņš, LMA Rector, Professor, Antra Priede, LAA Vice -Rector, Art Histor, Vita Liberte, Bdo latvia Chairman of the Board, Janis Zelmenis, Bdo latvia Leading partner, Evita Goza, Kim?
