The Bank of Latvia this year will release the animated film Straume’s collection of collection coins / day
At the same time, the Bank of Latvia has transferred the release of a coin dedicated to the theme of nature to 2026.
Directed by Gints Zilbalzi’s animated film « Straume », or « Flow », at the US Film Academy Awards, won the first « Oscar » in Latvian history in Los Angeles, winning the category « Best Full -length Animation Movie ». « Straume » was also nominated in the category « Best Foreign Film ».
So far, the animated film has received a total of more than 70 international awards, including the European Film Academy Awards, the US Cinema and TV Industry Award, Golden Globe, the French National Film Award Caesar and others.
It has already been reported that this year the Bank of Latvia plans to release a total of five anniversary coins. This year the Bank of Latvia will release the gold coin « Our Land », a coin dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the city of Liepaja, a coin dedicated to Jamie Skulme, as well as the first books in Latvian for five hundred years. Coin release dates will be announced shortly before the date they are available for purchase.
Collection coins are a means of payment only in emissions in the country. Collection coins are money in shape, but in essence, a work of art. They are made of gold, silver or other precious metals in particularly high forging quality. Unlike circulation, coins are usually not for use in payments, but for giving, memory and collections. For these reasons, the price of coins also exceeds the face value. The nominal value of the collection coins is different from the nominal value of coins.
