The austerity plans of the candidates. What expenses do they want to cut

The seven candidates present at the presidential debate in Antena 3 were able to choose the austerity measures they would adopt to overcome the economic crisis. They had a choice between several variants, from massive state redundancies to the taxation of pensions, cutting the salaries of the dignitaries or the renunciation of protocol villas.

The independent candidate for presidential elections, John-Ion Banu-Muscel, said on Wednesday evening that, under serious economic conditions, he would cut the armament budget.

« We do not want additional armament, » he said, at the debate organized by Antena 3 CNN, at the Parliament Palace, the last of this election campaign, attended by 7 of the 11 candidates for the position of head of state.

Banu-Muscel reiterated that he would refuse the President’s salary, which he would donate to a non-profit organization and pronounced against special pensions.

« Let’s get the pensioners to at least 60 – 65 years old, not at 40 and some years, because it is a palm of the human condition. No man should receive a pension at 40, » said the independent candidate.

The presidential USR candidate, Elena Lasconi, said that, if she will become president, she will support, to recover the economy, to abolish several institutions and agencies that are not meaningful, to reduce the posts from the dignitar offices, to attract investors, mentioning that it is a populist theme.

« The President of Romania, the ministers, the people who represent this country must have a performance, » said Elena Lasconi.

It was asked, at the electoral debate organized by Antena 3 CNN at the Parliament Palace, in relation to the measures it will support, if he will be president, to recover the serious economic situation, among which the VAT increase, the salary cuts, the taxation of the pensions, the loan to the IMF, the half cutting.

« It is a time when populism can be used to the maximum. It sounds good-‘we cut them to dignitaries, at the president half of the allowance’, I do not receive a salary, I receive an allowance, as I receive the mayors. I say to kill them, if they still want to run this country. In no case. Politicians, we have too many in the dignitaries, reductions, but the President of Romania, the ministers, the people who represent this country must have a performance.

The candidate has shown that our country must have very good diplomats worldwide, to attract foreign investors.

« I want to increase the economy by attracting investors in Romania, to have more money to divide. It is true that many institutes, inspectorates, a lot of agencies that have no purpose and must be abolished because there are a lot of money, » said Lasconi.

Asked if she would hold massive dismissals, she said it was not about this.

« The money does not go to that area. The black hole of the economy is represented by the state companies that go to a loss, which have unprofessional people, » she added.

At the same time, asked if he supports the dismissal of his husband from the USR parliamentary group, Elena Lasconi replied: « It is ok, you know I can receive many blows from all directions and I think I have cope, I have shown this. »

« It is a nonsense and it is unfair that you put the index on me, because it is absolutely a service in the USR group. He is a USR member. Mail were given to recruit people in the USR group, I repeated this, » Lasconi reaffirmed.

The candidate of the electoral alliance « Romania, before! » At the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, said that, under serious economic conditions, he excludes the increase of taxes and cutting pens and salaries, pleading to reduce the salaries of the dignitaries, but also to the « luxury forms » for them.

« I personally exclude the increase of VAT, and the increase of taxes, and the resort to the IMF and the cutting from the pensions or salaries of the budgets that are employed. As regards the salaries of the dignitaries, of course we can reduce them by half, but the problem is to forget in terms of equity and costs that in the big companies and in the states there are in the state and in the states and Unjustified, but we must not forget at the same time that in the mayors are small salaries and many mayors can no longer hire valuable people. That can be reduced, but the budget is balanced from the basis of tax evasion, ”said Antonescu.

The independent candidate for presidential elections Nicușor Dan told Wednesday evening that the decrease of expenses with state -owned companies would be one of the first measures to be taken to reduce the budget deficit.

Asked if he would also support the reduction of the allowances for the dignitaries, he replied: « If necessary, yes. »

Other measures it supports are the reduction of expenses, tax evasion and increased EU funds.

« A tip I would give to the Romanians: do not expect who put you in the pit to remove you. In immediate terms, there are two places from where you can cut: from state companies-we did this, we removed 5,000 people from the municipal companies-and from the chapter of expenses. And at the absorption of European funds, where we also lose a lot of money.

He highlighted the fact that the budget deficit generates inflation, which in turn brings « bigger invoices » for Romanians. Nicușor Dan reminded that, when he took over the first term of general mayor, the Capital City Hall had a current debt that represented three quarters of the institution’s annual budget. At this moment, the PMB has a four -speed rating over Romania, he said.

Lavinia Șandru, the candidate put in the presidential elections, said on Wednesday night, that, under economic crisis, he would not proceed that former president Traian Basescu, but would cut the special pensions and agree to reduce his own salary.

« I will not do what Traian Basescu did because, when he cut salaries and pensions, I went out with mothers in the street to defend the rights of the mothers, the rights won by the law of mothers. Yes, I will agree to cut my salary in half, I will ask the Romanian dignitaries. We borrow at the IMF.

Also, Lavinia Șandru says that the business environment should be « prepared ».

« And, yes, we prepare the business environment in such a way as to reduce taxes and taxes, we allow it to relax and allow them to assimilate the officials we want to send from the state in private so that these officials say: Yes, I want to work in private because it is better now, » the candidate added.

The independent candidate for presidential elections Daniel Funeriu said that, under serious economic conditions, the government apparatus and other state institutions will be able to operate with fewer employees.

« I led the Ministry of Education with two state secretaries. At one point they were, I do not know, 6, 7, 8. Used, Article 138 – no budgetary expense can be approved without establishing the source of financing.

The candidate of the Romanian Conservative National Party in the presidential elections, Cristian Terheș, said that they would like to work the best Romanians in the Romanian state, to be paid as they should, but they do not want their relatives, up to the five degree, to be employed thanks to those functions.
