The appeal of the President of the Republic to the opposition

President of the Republic Nataša Pirc Musar has proposed to the National Assembly to appoint Human Rights Ombudsman Diana Mozina Zupanccurrently a deputy that works in the fields of social security, health, environment, housing policies and other social and labor matters. She did so, although the proposal (yet) did not have the support of at least 60 MPs.

“Because MEPs have not been outstanding professional or other well -founded reservations about the suitability of dr. Možina Zupanc, the President of the Republic has addressed a respectful appeal to those parliamentary groups that have not yet made a decision on support to re -consider and, taking into account all the facts. Možina Zupanc to the position of Human Rights Ombudsman, « the Office of the President of the Republic wrote. In doing so, they have measured the opposition parties, and the coalition has already announced that they will support the candidate.

So far, the SDS has not been ready to speak about any candidate in this procedure. Democrats will oppose her – this is what Novic confirmed to us today – as they were already better candidates ahead. In the NSi, however, they have hesitated so far, but eventually announced to the President of the Republic that he could not count on all their votes. The candidates did not talk about the complaints, so it seems that less than a year before the election, the appearance of who is willing to work with whom. Namely, in the NSi, Diana Mozina Zupanc has already been supported as a deputy. They did not want to talk about how they will vote today.

This is only the first candidate or candidate for the Ombudsman to be nominated by the President of the Republic for appointment after Peter Svetinathe previous Ombudsman, on February 23, expired. As she stated, she tried to provide candidates with support.

At first, she focused primarily on finding support director PICA Katarina Bervar Sternad.
