The absurd census – altaposten.no

The result of a recently conducted survey among those registered in the Sami Parliament's election figures shows that 7% of those registered there say that they do not perceive themselves as a same and that 2% of those enrolled would either not respond or were uncertain.

This is reported by NRK Sapmi.

The provisions in order to enroll in the Sami Parliament's electoral number is that one is of at least 1/8 Sami descent and signs that one perceives himself as a same. Thus, one does not write on that one perceives in part as a same or also as a same.

The rules for registration mean, among other things, that a person who is of 100% Sami descent and does not say that he or she perceives as a same, is not for a same thing to count. This in the legal sense.

At the same time, it also means that a person who is of 1/8 Sami descent and says that he or she perceives himself as a same is for a same thing to count, in the legal sense.

It is the constitutional that the Sami in Norway are an indigenous peoples. Anyone who signs that he or she perceives himself as a same, therefore also writes that he or she perceives himself as an unruly, ie a person belonging to an indigenous peoples.

This is pretty absurd and absurd it must be, no matter what kind of criteria a warehouse in order to enroll in this census. This is because the Sami have mixed blood and culture with the other population groups or language groups on the Northern Calotte and areas outside, for centuries.

Those who are registered in the Sami Parliament's election figures are consequently a linguistic, cultural and genetically mixed group. According to the Storting, it is this mixed group that will give the Sami Parliament a Sami legitimacy. I do not see the number of numbers doing it.
