After Chatgpt exploded into the public consciousness, various artificial intelligence -based chatbots began to spread lightning fast, and many users worldwide launched conversations. However, during the chat, more and more people had emotions about the AI. Why can Chatbot benefit from a meat-blood friend and what’s back in the background of this process? We talked about this phenomenon with Árpád Rab, a researcher of the issue.

The company behind Chatgpt was already in August last year issued a warningwhen they noticed that users were emotionally attached to the chatbot. And at the end of March this year, we reported on internal research results by the company, which also proved that Many people fall in love with their virtual interlocutor. Among other things, it turned out that there are users who have almost as important chat robes as their human relationships.

We talked about the phenomenon with Árpád Rab Digital Culture Expert and Future Researcher, who worked as a senior researcher in artificial intelligence research by the National University of Public University Information Society Research Research.

Although Hungarian users are generally less confident in emotional issues in artificial intelligence – for example, they are less important in privacy issues – it still raises important problems with artificial intelligence. In addition, we cannot go because half of the Hungarian young people (11-14 year olds) have already been in contact with an AI assistant, the expert recalled.

Why do we love a chatbot?

According to the researcher, there is a pattern worldwide and in Hungary with the emotions of artificial intelligence, which are not really induced by AI, but for ourselves.

« Because there is less action than motivation, we imagine things. We are used to making our friend often and reacting quickly. And a machine can do it even more easily. We like to listen to us, likes, loves. »

Árpád Rab explained to our newspaper, adding that this behavior is typical in the digital space anyway, as we explain things because we try to figure out what is on the other side. The same is when we get a heart or a liking a on social networking sites. According to the researcher, this is exactly what artificial intelligence is happening, which is why it can spread so quickly, because it is actually like a « chatbot friend » we can talk to at any time. This has a very interesting and important effect.

Meat-and-blood friends fall asleep against artificial intelligence

According to the expert, users are aware that they are not talking to an existing person, but their true friends are at a competitive disadvantage against AI. This is because living people do not answer as quickly or are not as smart, or they may not be able to tell their love testimony as nicely as a chatbot.

If you want to avoid artificial intelligence mentally, it is important to be aware that we are actually talking to a statistical software.
