At the awards, the best performance of 2024 in Klaipeda was recognized Philip Glass Opera « Journey » – Thanksgiving mask was awarded the first building of this opera in Lithuania Klaipėda State Musical Theater (KVMT), an international group of artists formed. The honorable award is also dedicated to KVMT 2024. Sigita Šimkūnaitė, a ballet legend (choreographer GAJ ŽAVC, composer Antanas Jasenka). Philip Glass Opera « Journey » became the first premiere of 2024. In the new building of Klaipeda State Musical Theater – the first theater in independent Lithuania, which was opened in the spring. It is symbolic that it was with the contemporary opera that theater began its new artistic discoveries to the new theater.

In 1992, a new stage form of the famous American composer Philip Glass Glass’s opera was written for the 500th anniversary of the American composer, commissioned by the New York Metropolitan Opera, was first selected by a creative group consisting of young Italian artists-Chiara Osella, Carl Massari), Carl Massari. Peronetti (scenography) and Emilia Zagnoli (costumes) and permanent Linart Urniežis (video projections) and Andrius Stasiulis (Light). Maestro Dante Santiago Anzolini (Argentina – USA), invited to the KVMT scene, became a musical building manager after 30 years. It with composer Ph. After the premiere, critics praised not only the visual solution of the performance, but also the KVMT and the invited soloists who revealed the best sides of their talent, struggling with minimalist music that succumbs to the difficult performance. “Philip Glass’s » Journey « in Klaipeda became not only a cultural event, but also a bold interpretation of the contemporary opera on the Lithuanian stage. The building not only enriched the repertoire of Klaipeda Musical Theater, but also allows you to expect further experiments in the field of modern opera, ”said Audronė Žigaitytė, an opera expert, after the premiere.

Thanksgiving mask as a scenographer of the year Sigita Šimkūnaitė was awarded for the ballet Legendacreating scenography for many KVMT performance. In this theater, the artist made his debut with dance performance « Karmen » (director and choreographer Aušra Krasauskaitė, 2017), and followed by other works, which deserve a special mention of the monumental scenery in Klaipeda Elungas Richard Wagner’s opera « Flying Dutchman » Abarius was nominated for the Golden Stage Cross. 2022 Created scenography for KVMT dance performances for the tripper « Dona Kichote », for which he was also nominated for the Golden Stage Cross. – Carmina Burana (dir. Legend is my first work on the new stage of Klaipeda State Musical Theater Hall « Sea », the first premiere of the dance performance in the new theater building. This is an extremely important event for me, ”S. Šimkūnaitė did not hide her excitement before the premiere in November 2024. The main element of the performance has become a 7 -meter -diameter tree hung from the ceiling – the first 3D printer printed in the history of Lithuanian theater. The past, which we remember or forgot, the uninterrupted life and death cycle, the beginning and the future of life (…) it acts as a physical body of reference, which moves the bodies of ballet artists on stage, ”the scenographer commented on the symbolic meaning and visual purpose of his work.
