A premium smartphone for the more gentle ones.

POCO F7 Ultra
We like:
powerful and modern hardware
Price: from 759 €
The product for the test was provided by Xiaomi
As part of the well -known Chinese brand Xiaomi, POCO is one of those manufacturers who are known mainly because of the excellent ratio of what you can get for your money. The F7 Ultra is a great example, even though it has much higher ambitions this time.
It still holds the price at a relatively reasonable height, where there are models of upper middle class manufacturers such as Samsung or Apple. Well POCO will give you for your money as opposed to them smartphone belonging to the top of the current offer.
We choose a yellow color
In Slovakia, you buy POCO F7 Ultra in two colors, black and very nice yellow. There are two configurations of 12 + 256 and 16 + 512 gigabytes with a price difference of 80 euros. However, if you are clever, you may be able to make the introductory action in the form of a better configuration at the cost of the basic one.
The manufacturer also launched the second version of the POCO F7 series labeled Pro. You buy it for 180 euros cheaper. The cheaper version looks just as nice, but it has a slightly worse (not bad) hardware.
From our point of view, the biggest difference is the absence of a telephoto lens, the remaining differences are not so essential. Still, both models from the new POCO premium series are a serious competition for the best from brands like Samsung, Motorola, or even Apple.
We had the Poco F7 Ultra in its typical yellow color version, complemented by black parts such as an aluminum frame and a dark circle around the part with with a camera. The frame around the 12-bit OLED display is a thin, the display itself protects the durable SHIELD GLASS glass.
With a diagonal of 6.67 inch, the image will show you up to 1440 x 3200 pixels at 120 Hz of the refresh rate. Of course, if you need to reduce energy consumption, you can reduce not only the renewal frequency to 60 Hz, but also the resolution.
The quality of the display itself is excellent with respect to the price of the device and the remaining equipment. Of course, the top on the market is slightly lagging behind, but you will still look at vivid colors and the display will not disappoint you even on sunny days.
The smartphone meets the requirements for the IP68 protection degree, so it does not hurt dust, sand and can handle even half -hour immersion up to a depth of 2.5 meters.
In addition to your smartphone, you will not only find a standard USB C cable, but also a nice protective case and especially a charger with a power of 120 watts.
A modern but hot hardware
The view of paper specifications will reveal a truly premium hardware equipment. After all where you get elsewhere for less than 760 euros smartphone with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, complemented by up to 16 gigabyte operating memory and large data storage.
The best way to find the wireless configuration in the form of fast Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth in the 6.0 version. As expected, charging is extremely fast, more precisely 120 watt cable and 50 watt for wireless.
You can charge the 5300 mAh battery with the charger in about 34 minutes. However, this feature is turned off by default and we certainly do not recommend turning it on on hot summer days.
Overall, overheating is a problem that the PCO F7 Ultra has to a greater extent than we would like. We understand that we have a really powerful smartphone in our hands, but especially in graphically demanding games, the surface temperature was unexpectedly high.
We use a 20-minute 3DMark test to test hardware overheating. The first attempt ended unsuccessfully, as the application ended due to the high temperature itself. During the second attempt, we caught the smartphone in our hands after 13 minutes to put it immediately because of the high surface temperature.
The smartphone could not be used conveniently, it was really uncomfortably hot. According to the application, it reached up to 53 degrees, which is a really high temperature in the long run. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra completed a 43 and Honor Magic 7 Pro test with a temperature of 48 degrees.
We’ll see how the smartphone will behave after further updates, as it is currently likely to have a priority as the highest performance.
You’ll have great photos
One of the main differences between PCO F7 Ultra and cheaper Pro is the camera. It is not only different from the number of sensors, but also their parameters and the overall quality of the output.
Ultra has an excellent main sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels, optical image stabilization and effective and accurate automatic focus. The wide -angle sensor is a pleasant surprise, as instead of the average module, the manufacturer reached for a 32 megapixel sensor from Samsung.
The third sensor is also from Samsung, has a resolution of 50 megapixels, optical stabilization and in connection with the optical part will bring you closer to the scanned scene 2.5 times.
The quality of the main sensor photos is excellent, full of detail, with a good dynamic range and vivid but still believable colors. Surprisingly, the photos are also good at optical zoom.
The result is also good when shooting objects from a small distance (a few centimeters) and the portrait photo is equally good. Adding a wide -angle camera, we have a really universal solution in our hands.
This will not disappoint you even when you record video, especially if you use the main sensor. There is a very effective stabilization, a very good dynamic range, a lot of detail and of course faithful colors.
The camera app is also useful. Not only does it offer a number of different modes, it also gives you a relatively strong control over different parameters. You can even create your own photography modes.
I poco is ai
What Samsung has started with Google is now catching up with the remaining manufacturers. Nor can POCO cannot stay behind, although the company has historically only lukewarm access to software updates.
Now, however, he promises us up to four years of full -fledged updates and six years of security. It is less than Samsung, but more compared to Nothing Phone.
You can get your new POCO F7 Ultra smartphone with Android 15, complemented by Xiaomi Hyperos. In some parts, our taste is unnecessarily confusing and you will find a number of unnecessary applications in your smartphone.
Fortunately, the annoying advertising, with the exception of the music player, has disappeared from those created directly by the manufacturer. The company moved its activities to AI functions as the main software attraction.
The basis is, of course, the integration of Google Gemini, including the search feature of the just displayed content on the screen. In addition, Poco offers a number of own AI features that you may know from premium Xiaomi smartphones.
Artificial intelligence will help you create dynamic wallpapers, use it to edit photos and videos, and even overwrite the sound into the text thanks to effective speech recognition.
Excellent but hot
The Poco F7 Ultra definitely deserves its label, it is an excellent premium smartphone that you buy for a really sensible money. It is nice, fast, has an excellent display and you take quality photos with it.
Inside, there is a modern hardware, really fast charging and the best possible, a 120 -watt charger you can find directly in the package. It is therefore a strong competition not only for premium Chinese brands, but also for Samsung and Apple.
We can no longer argue against the purchase by pointing out poor software support. Xiaomi as well as POCO understood what the customer requires and will support the device for up to six years.
So Poco has an almost perfect smartphone in which we have bothering us basically only two things. The first is the absence of Esim, which is a complication especially when traveling outside the European Union.
But the main problem is overheating the smartphone when playing graphically demanding games. Although the manufacturer boasts a special cooling system, the aim of the automatics in our case was to achieve the highest power regardless of the surface temperature.
You will have a really most powerful smartphone in your hands, but at the cost of an unpleasantly high surface temperature. We’ll see if PCO will remove this problem in one of the updates.
