Tens of thousands of live animals, in a shipping to Algeria

A new transport with over 40,000 Romanian animals-cattle and sheep-left on Friday to Anaba (Algeria) from Constanța, the National Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) announced in a Facebook post.

« Today, May 30, 2025, a significant new transport of sheep and cattle starts to Algeria, strengthening the economic and sanitary-veterinary partnership between Romania and the Algerian state. 40,600 sheep and 1,460 bulls, all transported in rigorous safety conditions on a special authorized ship. It was carried out by DSVSA Constanța, and during the transport, the health of the animals is permanently monitored by an official Romanian veterinarian and a veterinarian in Algeria ”, says the authority.

The constant involvement of ANSVSA in this process has guaranteed not only the compliance with the highest standards regarding the welfare of the animals, but also the continuity of a successful commercial collaboration.

« Following the first export made in 2024 and the exceptional feedback on the quality of the Romanian sheep meat, Algeria decided that the whole of 2025, including for celebrating the EU-ADHA celebration, would be covered exclusively from Romania, » ANSVSA wrote on the socialization page.

In this context there is a large operation aimed at the export of 400,000 sheep, based on the bilateral agreement concluded between the two countries.

ANSVSA continues its mission to support sanitary-veterinary standards and to actively contribute to the promotion of Romanian products on international markets.
