Tempi: Unveiling of the monument
The « Tree of the Souls », one of the two related to the twin work of the artist Maria Mandakis for the tragedy in Tempi, was revealed to the Athenians today as planned, at the intersection of Ermou and Piraeus Streets, opposite the Technopolis.
« The Tree of Souls – The Beginning » symbolizes the collective demand for justice and with it Athens honors the memory of the 57 victims of the Tempe tragedy. The revelations were made by the Mayor of Athens, Harry Doukas.
The « twin work » designed by Maria Mandakis begins the journey from Athens to Thessaloniki, as was the fateful route of February 28, 2023.

The second trunk has been set up on a rock in the garden of the afternoon sun at the New Beach of Thessaloniki and its unveiling are scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, at 12:00 noon.
At its base there are 57 birds fallen, on which the names of the victims of the Railway Tragedy in Tempi are engraved, and their ages are also listed. The tree ends with leaves, blooming, giving a message of hope and regeneration.
