Occasionally, a TV program can make a big difference for those involved, family, local communities and almost an entire nation.

Team sausage at NRK has been a strong, touching and engaging meeting with six young people, who are in different ways challenged by disabilities.

Nevertheless, they embarked on a demanding journey to the World Cup in Granåsen together with Øystein Pettersen, where both tough demands and empathy became an important part of the process. Like life itself.

That descent can be brutal, partly because of attitudes and expectations that turn into emotional lead in the fight for equality.

It may be a working life that does not see the opportunities, it can be an association life and volunteerism that is unable to create an offer, but there can also be outsiders in a society with high expectations and demands on how things should be. The template we create is paradoxically an obstacle to many, not to mention most.

Then you can enjoy positive things, including the integration we saw during the World Cup events in Trondheim and the efforts of local sports life, including made visible during the Barents Winter Games in Alta in late March. There we were first introduced to moody carpet curling.

NAV Alta has also in recent years carried out a project related to outsiders in working life, for various reasons. A corporate survey showed that interest is increasing.

Experience shows that when you give a chance, you get very loyal workers. In addition, there are positive things about the working environment, as you get workers with different backgrounds and competence.

We think that when more companies open the door to diversity, they also maintain one of the pillars of a human and solid society.
