Tattoo artist Escobar throws an armed robber outside: « I stiffened for a moment, but then I flew towards him » (Temse)
In a Temsese tattoo shop in Sint-Amelbergalaan, a masked robber tried to capture money on Wednesday evening. However, that was calculated without manager Escobar, who worked the perpetrator with a few strikes and kicks out. « He is lucky that my two dogs would not get hold of him, » says the tattoo artist.
Escobar is a well -known and loved figure in Temse. « I don’t have any enemies here. I agree with everyone, » he says. Nevertheless, the tattoo artist fell victim to a robbery around 9.30 pm on Wednesday evening. « I just came home and didn’t lock the front door, because I was going to walk my two dogs, » he says the day after the facts.

Camera images show that another man enters the case a few seconds later. « He must have met me, but I didn’t notice him, » says Escobar, who shortly afterwards came face to face with the masked man. « I returned to my practice room for a moment to throw something in the garbage can and suddenly he stood there with a knife in his hand. He shouted three times that he wanted money. I stiffened for a moment, but then I flew at him. »

What follows is a short but fierce fight. The perpetrator had to take some striking blows. Escobar literally kicked the man outside. « Afterwards I went to get a baseball bat, but he had already fled. I realize that I was lucky. He made some stabbing movements, so this could have ended up worse. Moreover, nothing could be picked up here, I always bring cash to the bank. »

The robber was firmly hit by Escobar. The man himself also has some bruised ribs. « However, the perpetrator was still lucky, » he says. « My dogs did not get to him. They are sweet animals, but don’t come in unsolicited, because that ends wrong. »

The police have since started an investigation. « They were on site very quickly and did a great job. Those people deserve a compliment, » he says. The perpetrator, dressed in a training suit, was not yet caught. Escobar therefore makes a call to witnesses of the incident. « The person who comes with the redeeming tip will also be rewarded for that, » he concludes.
