Tariffs will be applied to all countries / day
Trump has promised « Liberation Day » on April 2, when he plans to announce tariffs to prevent trade practices that his government considers unfair.
« We will start with all the countries, and then see what will happen, » Trump told reporters on Sunday, dispelling the hope that he might not put some of the tariffs on tariffs or that they could only be directed against countries with constant trade imbalances.
Trump pointed out that « basically we are talking about all countries, not some countries. »
Previously, speculation has been expressed that Trump’s upcoming tariffs would be targeted at 15% of partner countries with constant trade imbalances with the US.
At the same time, however, Trump stressed on Sunday that his tariffs would be more favorable compared to those suitable for the US.
Trump has already set tariffs for imports from US trading partners in Canada, Mexican and China since returning to president in January, which came into force on March 4, as well as 25% tariff for steel and aluminum imports.
However, Trump announced on March 5 that the United States is released for customs tariffs for car imports from Canada and Mexico for one month.
Trump also announced a 25% customs tariff on Wednesday for cars and cars built abroad and will take effect on April 2.
