Taravari expects 40 to 50 patients being treated outside the country to need longer -lasting rehabilitation
Health Minister Arben Taravari expects 40 to 50 patients being treated outside the country, after the tragic event in Kocani, to need longer -term rehabilitation. He reiterated that there are states that are ready, if we have more severe rehabilitation cases, to receive these patients.
– The process of rehabilitation of patients treated after the tragic event in Kocani will be long and painstaking, but that is the situation. We have to face it and we have to respond well to this stage. We have spent the first ten days and at least so far the results are good. To date there are no deceased, although we have four patients in critical condition. We are now in the second phase of complications and rehabilitations- Taravari said tonight on Sitel television.
He added that complications expect to have one to two weeks, and for certain patients rehabilitation has already begun and may last from weeks to several months.
– Unfortunately, it is generally for children from 15 to 25 years. They mean a lot to them not only physical health but also the aesthetic appearance, and these are burns that can leave scars and which could stigmatize them in society. As a state we will try to maximally be rehabilitated and treated, to continue their lives more normal- said Taravari.
Regarding whether the rehabilitation center is considering, Taravari said that next week will be discussed more specifically on the issue.
– For a special center for rehabilitation we have never thought or existed in the country, but as a state we should seriously think that we need such a center. We can’t build it in two weeks. One option is hospitals that have less utilization, ie they have fewer patients, and the other option is the resources that are not used – a floor in a hospital or less used health facility. But above all, human resources are important to us, we have to have people who will be professional- said Taravari.
