Talsi will host the NAF Military Parade and Freedom Feast / Day

The event will begin at 9 am with a service in the Talsi Evangelical Lutheran Church, but at 11 a.m. The parade commander will be Colonel Edmunds Svenčs, Commander of the 4th Kurzeme Brigade.

The parade will start from Fabrikas Street, moving along the monument « Kokler », along the Liela Street to the intersection, continuing the road along Raina and Rīgas streets to the parking lot of Talsi road transport. The route of walking units from the intersection of Lielā and Brīvības Street will lead on Brivibas Street to the Road Safety Directorate.

For the first time, not only the emergency medical service transport units participate in the parade, but also the unit of the service staff.

Similarly, there will be 21 Zalve – a tradition that symbolically marks the beginning of the holiday. From 1:30 pm to 3 pm, the annual Dragon Festival organized by the Talsi County Children and Youth Center will take place at Dzirnavkalns, the Craftsmen and Home Producers’ Market is planned on Zvaigznu Street, while at 2 pm in Talsi State Gymnasium Square – twinning football games between Allied soldiers and Talsi County municipal teams.

The organization of the NAF Day in one of the Latvian county centers started the defense industry in 2012 to introduce the NAF to residents who do not have the opportunity to visit the traditional national holiday parade on November 18 in Riga. Since 2013, these events have been under the motto « May 4 – Freedom Festival ». Last year it took place in Latgale, Rezekne, but this year the important and historic Latvian national holiday event will take place in Talsi. The city of the parade will be announced next year during the May 4th parade.
