More equality in health

These are the important results of the collaboration in the Bilka department store that underlie the project now also tested in selected net stores: more than every tenth of the customers who have so far agreed to the offer of free blood pressure measurement, has thus had an untreated high blood pressure.

It has given the brain case the opportunity to open the dialogue about the dangers of high blood pressure with parts of the population, which is otherwise difficult to reach through traditional health campaigns.

By being present with nurses, blood pressure measurements and information materials in selected Netto stores, the brain case reaches the broadest possible sample of the Danish population, as almost all Danes shop in grocery stores like Netto.

Thus, all the groups of society are exposed to an extremely important health message, and in this way the initiative also contributes to fighting inequality in the field of health.

A real difference to the health of the Danes

It is the Salling Funds that own the Salling Group that have enabled the blood pressure measurements in the stores with a donation of DKK 2.6 million.

Also in Salling Group, you are adhering to the perspectives of the extended collaboration:

« We are pleased to see that customers are so good at the offer of blood pressure measurement-we also hope that our Net customers will do. It is a great example of how we can make a specific difference to the health of the Danes. By offering this service in even more stores we make it easy and accessible to prevent something as serious as an increased blood pressure and stroke, Louise Gade, director of People, Culture & Sustainability in Salling Group.

The rollout for selected Netto stores is tested in week 19 in Netto in Kerteminde, Billund, Taulov, Augustenborg and Svendborg.

The test coincides with the national marking of the stroked day, which this year falls on May 6. Here, the country is focused on prevention and symptoms of stroke through a wide range of initiatives. It is the Brain Case, the Danish Council for Resuscitation and the TrygFonden that has taken the initiative for the stroked day.
