Switzerland attracts the richest. Five -star hotels grow rapidly in the ground
Many leading Swiss five -star hotels date back to the early twentieth century, when they served at that time and other entrepreneurs. In recent years, Swiss entrepreneurs have been focusing on their reconstruction so that they still offer first -class service. Among other things are apartments with panoramic views, top restaurants or spas, writes BBC.
According to analyst Markus Berger, guests of the Swiss five -star hotels only contribute to the total number of overnight stays of only 8 percent. Nevertheless, they generate at least 25 percent of Swiss tourism income. “The numbers speak clearly. The economic contribution of this clientele is indisputable, ”says the expert.
Emphasis on quality and first -class services
Among the clients of Swiss hotels are especially guests from China, the US, the Gulf countries or Southeast Asia. Hoteliers say that especially from Asian states, demand has recently been considerable. At the same time, the clientele will enjoy first -class service. Some of these devices even help guests with nicknames.
Although Switzerland has long been one of the most expensive economies in Europe, they have no problem with it. Even now, when Frank, Swiss, is strong. « Switzerland has never tried to compete with others through prices, » adds Markus Berger. According to him, the hoteliers focus on quality, first -class services and added value.
Will wengen change the face?
In some parts of the country, however, there is a long -term concern that the emphasis on the richest clientele will take away the locals. An increasingly common problem is that many employees of Swiss hotels cannot find artificial accommodation in areas. This is one of the reasons why many of them commute several tens of kilometers away. Especially from the less rich Swiss villages, where the rents are much lower than sought -after ski resorts.
The number of five -star hotels should continue to grow in Switzerland. Now such a project is discussed in connection with the Wengen Center, which has long been connected mainly with tourists from the UK. Here, however, despite many critics, the construction of luxury apartments is already planned. This does not like the locals, according to which the place could lose its original character. “Wengen is not a classy. Here it is not necessary as in St. Moritz, ”one of the locals told the BBC.
But Rolf Wegmüller, who focuses on the development of tourism in Wengen, is trying to calm down emotions. He promises that the current form of this center will not change with the advent of rich clientele. « We will not be guests who would walk around the city in Koziší, » he says. Unlike other centers, Wengen is only available by train. There will be no expensive cars in the parking lots. Wegmüller also adds to the BBC that the still most typical hotel here is the three -star.
